When I started publishing this magazine, back in 2014, it was originally called "Campbellton Now" and was a social justice and community engagement piece for Campbell River's historic footprint. My 2nd issue featured Curtis Wilson's Indigenous version of the Canadian Flag. It was the first time it has ever been published and Curt was pretty excited, as was I. It was and is a new wave thought process on who we are as Canadians. Not saying that everyone has to agree; points of view are HOT right now and I'm not trying to light any fires.
I would like to honour our country in this issue – the Big Pink (on the old maps), the Great White North (Coo-oucooucoou), predominantly known as Canada. Can we rise up from the noise we are all hearing and share stories and a love that relates to a special event, place, moment or memory that you have that lands on love, devotion and vigorous support, paralleled to the definition of patriotism.
