REAL ESTATE CAREERS MARKETPLACE SERVICE DIRECTORY
REAL ESTATE AGENT SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK What is your specialty and what does that mean for the peo- cause they didn’t act quickly. Usually, it only happens once. It Heather Blake makes me sad when a client misses out on a great house! ple you work with? CRS, CLHMS
REALTOR® Re/Max Leaders cell: 303-257-2801 e-fax: 303-991-3091 www.5280realestate.com realestate@heatherblake.com Where were you born? In the Suburbs of Washington, DC. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio though! How long have you lived in the area? Since 1990, I went to University of Denver and never left! I also lived in Summit County for nine years after college and relocated to Denver in late 2000. What do you like most about it? I love the 300 days of sunshine! I’m outside doing something every day! Also, have you ever noticed how nice everyone is here? Maybe it’s the attitude here because most people choose to live here! I notice it and when clients are moving here, they always comment on that. We are so lucky!
Well, I don’t really think I have a specialty because I truly believe you need to stay well rounded in our industry, especially in this economy. I really believe in staying ahead of the curve with technology and with housing statistics so I can try to provide as much accurate information as possible! I also serve in the Board of Directors for the South Metro Denver Realtor Association and I serve on the Legislative Policy Committee for the Colorado Association of Realtors. I believe that being active within our Realtor community keeps me ahead of the game about our industry. This knowledge is invaluable. What is the most challenging part of what you do? Right now, it can be a little frustrating. Because our inventory is so low, most properties tend to go quickly. Some clients think that I am blowing smoke when I encourage them to make an offer on a house that they love and then they miss out be-
What do you most enjoy doing when you’re not working? I’m a tennis addict. If I told you how much I play, you would think I was crazy! I also, walk daily with my two 90-pound Labradoodles, Handsome Hans and Charming Charlie, ski and try to fit in some golf too! I’m also a food blogger in the evenings! What is one tip you have for someone looking to sell a house? You are moving anyway, so why not start packing up your house, de-clutter and “spring clean” before the house goes on the market! Homes show better with less personal items – people want to see their own things in the home! What is one tip you have for someone looking to buy a house? Make lists; a must-have, would-like-to-have and I’d-bedreaming-if-I-got-it list. This really helps me narrow down homes when I look them up for you. Once we start looking you can adjust the list if you need to but a list is a great place to start! Also, in today’s market you need to be pre-approved for financing. You need to talk to a lender before you start your list! What is the most unusual thing you’ve encountered while working in Real Estate? There are two odd things… One, a 12-foot bronze Stallion in the middle of someone’s living room and a life size Yoda prominently displayed on a shelf in a family room! I actually took pictures of both because it was so strange!
How long have you worked in Real Estate? I began my career in property management in 1992 and have been a licensed Realtor since 1998! Wow! 15 years, I’m starting to date myself!
