The CLAY HUT built buy students

Norway|Luster| Spring 2024

The final product of the studio was the construction of a clay house and the development of construction documentation. The students were divided into groups and were responsible for different departments.

In two weeks, the students, teachers and the customer built the house, all processes were documented daily. The walls were made from a mixture of clay, woodchips, manure, water, and sand.

It was an incredible experience of teamwork. Kindness and complete dedication made it happen.

Process videos can be viewed by scanning the QR code.

ReTHINKING competition

Project collaborator with Marya

This project is a trio of round mechanical parking towers with a central distribution cylinder, integrated into a green public space that frames views of Tokyo Tower and connects to surrounding pedestrian routes. Inspired by Japanese culture, it features bamboo landscaping, water elements, and red architectural accents.

PARKING TOWER PARKING TOWER

LOCATION: Tokyo, Minato-ku district

• STRUCTURE

3S is a three volumes of round mechanical parkings. In the center between them there is a distribution cylinder. It saves time if there is a queue of cars.

• EXPERIENCE + RESPECT TO SURROUNDINGS

Our proposal contains green area for locals and tourists with a beautiful view on the Tokyo Tower. The structure continues the way of the nearest park’s alley so that we could see the main dominant of the district. Also we connect our central pedestrial line with an existing bridge. This will make pedestrian accessibility better for people.

• CULTURE

We were inspired by Japanese culture and everyday life. So you can find it’s atributes in our project: bamboo forest, red color in decoration of the parking structure, nature motives of using water in the architecture.

A three-storey house situated on steep terrain. Two main volumes are connected by a narrow ā€œneckā€ containing the staircase that links all floors.

This connection separates the private upper sleeping volume from the lower volume, which accommodates the kitchen, living areas, and, on the lowest floor, rental units with a separate entrance.

The facade draws inspiration from local barns, incorporating a traditional wooden cladding pattern.
