When CEO Jean Paul Aschkar speaks about Everpack, there is a warmth and clarity in his words that immediately signals pride, pride not only in the company’s achievements, but in the community and country that have shaped its journey. Sitting in his office in Accra, he reflects on the company’s history with an ease that comes only from years of persistence, resilience, and belief in a vision that has steadily transformed Ghana’s packaging landscape.
Everpack was founded in 1998 by Jean Paul and his brother Karim, who serves as the company’s Managing Director. The story begins decades earlier with their grandfather’s migration from Lebanon to Ghana, where the family first entered the textile business. When the textile industry began to decline under global competition, Jean Paul saw an opportunity in an entirely

different sector, one that would ultimately redefine everyday life for millions across the region.
“When we started, tissue paper products were not made in Ghana at all,” Jean Paul recalls. “Everything was imported. We were the first to establish a tissue paper factory here.” That decision would prove to be pivotal. Not only did Everpack open new industrial doors, but it also initiated a cultural shift in how Ghanaians and West Africans approached hygiene and safety in food packaging and paperware. “We created a market in a way,” Jean Paul explains. “It wasn’t easy in the beginning. People weren’t used to these kinds of products, but through awareness and availability, we changed habits. We showed the benefits of hygienic tissue and packaging products, and the market began to grow.”

What began as a small factory operation has since evolved into one of West Africa’s leading packaging producers. Everpack today manufactures a wide range of tissue paper, paper food containers, paper cups, plastic cups, plates and containers, aluminum foil, cling film, and many others, businesses, restaurants, and major franchises. The company’s impact reaches beyond Ghana, with trade networks spanning the ECOWAS region. “We’re very proud of how far we’ve come,” Jean Paul says. “It’s been a long journey, but every challenge has pushed us to grow, evolve, and expand.”
Expansion is indeed at the heart of Everpack’s success story. Over the past few years, the company has made significant investments in new machinery and facilities to boost capacity. “Manufacturing is not easy,” Karim admits. “You always need to upgrade your machines, expand your space, and increase your capacity to stay competitive.” Land, warehousing, and raw materials all come with logistical challenges, but Jean Paul views them as signs of progress. “When we expand, everything runs more smoothly,” he says. “It’s the only way to move forward.”
That forward momentum is matched by Everpack’s focus on quality and design. Jean Paul’s belief in the power of presentation is both practical and visionary. “We really focus on packaging. Nice packaging attracts people. It helps them trust and try the product. So we invest heavily in our designs and quality,” he explains. Much of this creative work happens in-house, thanks to a team of graphic designers who oversee every element from concept to final production. “We work from A to Z,” he smiles. “It’s something we’re very proud of.”
Yet innovation at Everpack extends well beyond aesthetics. Sustainability has become a core pillar of its strategy, both in paper and plastics. “We have two divisions,” Jean Paul says. “Our paper division and our plastic division. In plastics, we buy and use recycled materials. Paper is growing fast, but it’s also more expensive, which can be difficult for

Mr. Karim, Managing Director

some customers.” It is a delicate balance, especially in regions where affordability shapes purchasing decisions. “The shift to paper will happen over time,” Jean Paul explains. “We’re working in parallel because we know it’s important to support both sides, people’s needs and the planet’s needs.”
Ghana’s recycling industry is thriving, and Everpack is helping to drive that momentum. “There’s a lot happening here now. Recycling has become a big business. Factories are collecting and processing PET bottles and even exporting to Europe,” Jean Paul says. “We also recycle internally. All our paper waste goes to a partner factory that turns it into cardboard, which we buy back for our packaging. It’s a good cycle. It keeps the value local.”
This emphasis on local value creation runs deep through Everpack’s philosophy. Beyond its economic contributions, the company plays an active role in community development and environmental awareness. “We do cleanup campaigns around the city with public figures and ambassadors,” Jean Paul shares. “We teach people how to separate their waste, plastic from paper, and not to dispose of things carelessly. It’s all about awareness and helping people understand that recycling starts with how you throw things away.”
Such efforts reflect Jean Paul’s broader view of corporate responsibility. To him, growth and social impact are inseparable. “We’ve been here for many years, and

Ghana has given us so much,” he says. “It’s only right that we give back.”
Everpack’s community commitment also extends to education and employment. “We recruit a lot of young graduates,” Jean Paul says proudly. “We take on interns, provide training, and many of our staff have been with us since the very beginning. They’ve grown with us.” Some employees are even sent abroad for training, returning to Ghana with new knowledge and skills to share. “We rely a lot on the young people here. They’re full of potential. Supporting them is an investment in the future.”
That future, in Jean Paul’s eyes, is bright but competitive. “It’s an open market now,
so we always have to be innovative,” he says. “We travel a lot to exhibitions to stay updated on the latest technologies and raw materials. We do research constantly to keep improving and to make our products more affordable.” The global packaging industry is moving quickly, and Everpack is determined to remain at the forefront.
But while the company continues to modernise and expand, Jean Paul is careful to stay true to the values that defined Everpack’s beginnings. “Our vision is simple,” he says. “We want to keep growing without losing sight of how we started. Everpack was built to provide essential products for everyday life, products that make people’s lives better. That has always been our purpose.”

There is something deeply grounded about that statement. In a world where businesses often chase growth for growth’s sake, Jean Paul’s approach is refreshingly human. He sees Everpack not just as a commercial success, but as a bridge connecting Ghana to global standards while maintaining the local heart that made it all possible. “We want Everpack to be remembered as a company that cared,” he says. “A company that helped people live better, that supported communities, and that always looked ahead.”
It is an inspiring perspective from a leader who has seen first-hand how industry can drive transformation. From a small family business to a regional powerhouse, Everpack’s journey is one of vision, perseverance, and purpose. It is also a testament to Ghana’s growing manufacturing sector, which continues to show the world that African industry can be innovative, sustainable, and world-class.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
As the conversation ends, Jean Paul shares one last reflection that captures the spirit of Everpack perfectly. “We’re optimistic about the future,” he says with a smile. “We’ll keep improving, keep investing, and keep believing in what we do. Because when you love what you do, and you do it with integrity, growth is only a matter of time.”
In many ways, Everpack’s story mirrors Ghana’s own evolution, ambitious, adaptive, and driven by people who see possibility where others see obstacles. It is a company that doesn’t just package products; it packages progress. And in doing so, it continues to shape not only the market it created, but the future of a continent that is learning, through stories like Jean Paul’s, that sustainability, innovation, and community can truly go hand in hand.
