Callqd BuildMart Mall, the new concept houses businesses representing virtually all trades associated with the home building industry. Windows, doors, hardware, tools, electrical, plumbing, appliances, roofing, tiles, architects and landscape designers are among the products and services represented by 45 categories of suppliers and 80 different companies.

Nearly 300,000 sq. ft. of retail, wholesale, warehousing and office space is devoted to offering services needed by the builder, sub-contractor and homeowner.

ing office-display space as well as warehouse space. The 100,000 sq. ft. structure is designed to integrate office space with inventory and equipment storage facilities.

Inaddition to its southernSaltlake City location on the South Sandy Parkway, just south of the I-15 Freeway, the mall is 35 minutes from Provo and 50 minutes from Ogden.

An on-going schedule of special promotions is used to attract customers.

Building trade shows, home im- provement and decorator shows, technology demonstrations and seminars are among featured events. Services offered include advertising and promotion, newsletters and publications, conference areas, management and marketing consultation. A tenant association offers businesses located in the mall a voice in the operation.

Occupancy in the mall which opened in November 1984, is 9090. When totally occupied there will be 62 firms in the mall and 18 firms in the distribution center, according to Steven Urry, the developer. Phoenix, Az., and Denver, Co., are mentioned by the corporation as target cities for future expansion of the BuildMart Mall concept.

Ponderosa Distributing Inc. closed its operation in Salt Lake City and moved to the mall as one of its first tenants late last year. They find it perfect for their door and window business, according to David Breen, general manager.

"We have exposure that we've never had before," he explains, "and they are all serious shoppers."
