A first in, first out policY of stock rotation should be observed. This means the flooring received first should be the first to be shipped out. Make this easier by maintaining two separate flooring stacks, one for old flooring and one for new flooring. New flooring should never be Placed on top of old flooring. Oldest flooring should be used before the new. This method also makes it easier to see when it is time to reorder hardwood flooring.
Hardwood flooring storage areas must be checked regularly and maintained. Each month the roof and walls should be checked for leaks. Undetected cracks in concrete block walls can allow rain or melting snow to leak on the flooring. Careful checks also must be made for signs of condensation. Needless to say the area must be kept clean and free from debris.
