Congratulations, Mercy Court!

ALL I WANTED was to answer His call and demonstrate what I believe a church should look like: building a community of believers who see the Bible as a compass guiding their lives and modeling that life to the glory of God. Christ changed my life when I was 12 years old, and I have been guided by the Holy Spirit ever since. I had an insatiable hunger to know God and devoted myself wholeheartedly to anything I believed was godly. As I grew in faith, I realized that my desire to know Him was accompanied by

a calling that needed to be fulfilled. This calling shaped my thoughts, desires, decisions, and actions.
A new chapter of my life began on June 25, 2009, when I moved to the United States. There was no doubt that God had prepared this land for me. Things fell into place quickly, and God granted me speed in all my endeavors. I received my permanent residency status on October 3, 2011. Mercy Court was born on July 12, 2014, as the call of God on my life yearned to be expressed.
The beginning of Mercy Court was both humble and humbling. The church started with two adults and three children. On our first Sunday service, God added two more people, and we grew by 40%. It was a small step but a step in the right direction.
Little steps are all we need to make a difference. A step of faith births a life of testimonies. “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day” (Prov 4:18). Our path has kept shining ever since we started Mercy Court. The journey of the righteous is filled with little steps of faith strengthened by the mercy of God. These steps may seem insignificant but are significant milestones marked by memorials of God’s workings. I’ll never forget the day we purchased our first church van—it felt like we had bought an airplane! Despite its size, we were thrilled and grateful for this significant addition. It

Dr. John Itakpe Lead Pastor, Mercy Court
was a small step, but a step in the right direction.
The God of mercy held those little steps in place. Sometimes, like Peter, it seemed as though we would sink, but the mercy of God never failed and saw us through. Let God guide you as you read this today. Believe in Him and take one step at a time until you accomplish what He has called you to do. Most times, the devil will whisper to you that you will fail. Yes, I heard those whispers several times; interestingly, I still hear them today. But whenever the devil whispers, I turn to the God of mercy for help, and He shows up. In those instances, I see God manifest Himself. The
Little steps are all we need to make a difference. A step of faith births a life of testimonies.

God of mercy is faithful and will see you through that dream of yours.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we reflect on how far we have come with those little steps. We wouldn’t

have heard about Mercy Court or written about it if we hadn’t taken those steps. The God of mercy has indeed been merciful to us. Souls have been saved, destinies revived and restored, dreams fulfilled, chains broken, the sick healed, and many more testimonies we cannot recount.
Where we are today is as a result of God’s mercy. His mercy spoke on our behalf, shielding us from shame and preventing what was due to us from happening. We are who we are today because of His mercy. Indeed, our name has spoken for us.
Remember the ark of the covenant? Within it were the Ten Commandments, a jar of manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded. On top of the ark was the mercy seat. In other words, to access any of these, we need God’s mercy. Without God’s mercy, we would all have been consumed (Lamentations 3:22). His mercy has preserved us and brought us this far. Even when we failed, God’s mercy prevailed over the consequences that should have come upon us.
Hallelujah! Those little steps of faith have brought us thus far, and we are confident that the God of mercy, who has been faithful, will carry us further as we continue to take those little steps of faith in Jesus’ name.

THE CALL TO ministry transcends mere appearances of grandeur, the allure of recognition, and the appeal of titles and privileges. It is a profound summon that entails sacrifice, endurance, solitude, and dedication.
From my earliest days, I sensed a deeper connection to God, a hunger to encounter Him wherever I could. At age 17, when I finally found Him, my life underwent a transformative shift. It wasn’t easy, but His grace sustained me, as 2 Corinthians 12:9 affirms.
equips you for the journey ahead, just as He did with Abraham. I’ve always believed that God doesn’t assign tasks without granting the necessary grace. With God as our anchor, we are shielded from the enemy’s snares and life’s storms. What has God called you to do? Identify and yield to it. True fulfillment lies in aligning with God’s will, where grace abounds, mercy speaks, and strength sustains.

Pst. Rosemary Azuka Itakpe
Lead Pastor, Mercy Court
The call extends beyond individuals and titles; it’s about a divine mandate to impact lives irrespective of denominational walls or geographical boundaries. Mark 16:15 reminds us of our heavenly mandate to save souls. The call will task you, try you, stretch you thin, teach you profound lessons, build you, and reveal the person God sees in you. Just as He saw a mighty man in Gideon, a father of nations in Abraham, and a deliverer in Esther.

Becoming a lead pastor’s wife wasn’t part of my plan. I understood my calling from Matthew to spread the Gospel, but I never envisioned leading a church alongside my husband. While I engaged in ministries that placed me in the spotlight, I always preferred serving behind the scenes. My husband often spoke of our ministry being beyond our homeland, yet we were uncertain of its destination. A trip to The Gambia, initially intended for a job opportunity, turned into a divine appointment when we became part of “The Redeemed Christian Church of God.” Although we dubbed The Gambia a transit stop, our move to the United States of America felt unmistakably orchestrated by God.
In 2013, we discerned it was time to step out and embrace our calling. We sought God’s guidance on whether to embark on this journey independently or under the umbrella of a ministry. Personally, I was willing to say yes to the Lord, but accepting the specific ministry God had ordained was challenging, especially when I was spiritually low and sought an escape. Yet, God’s unmistakable voice directed me, shaping our path. When God entrusts you with a mission, He doesn’t provide the entire road-map but

Reflecting on our modest beginnings on July 13, 2014, when just the five of us founded Mercy Court, Isaiah 55:8-9 resonates. Our journey has been a testament to our absolute trust in God, marked by faith, courage, and His unfailing love and mercy. A decade into this journey marks only the beginning of greater things. With five parishes, a youthcentric church, and numerous lives touched and transformed, there is still more ground to cover, more souls to reach, and more lives to impact.

Let’s heed the call, knowing that God has chosen us to be part of His vision and mandate. Though the journey may seem daunting at times, God’s grace is more than sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). Let’s remain steadfast, fixing our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2), who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (John 15:16).

At Mercy Court, our vision is to model excellent living and impact our world in service to God and humanity.
MOur mission is clear. We are dedicated to raising Christlike pacesetters who, through God’s mercy, maximize their potential, and enjoy life.

Pst. Damola Ajiboye Executive Pastor, Mercy Court
ERCY, AS COMMONLY understood, involves showing compassion or forgiveness to someone who might otherwise face punishment or harm. However, when discussing God’s mercy, such simplistic definitions fall short. It surpasses mere pity, compassion, or kindness, becoming an integral part of the believer’s journey from the moment of salvation onward, persisting through ongoing forgiveness as a profound, enduring gift.
Consider the story of Peter, the impulsive and fervent disciple of Jesus Christ, whose life serves as a captivating narrative of redemption and grace. Despite Peter’s numerous shortcomings and moments of betrayal, his journey resonates deeply with us as Christians, offering profound lessons. At the core of Peter’s narrative lies his infamous denial of Jesus despite his earlier fervent declarations of loyalty. Overwhelmed by fear, he disowned his beloved teacher three times, fulfilling Jesus’ prophetic words. Yet, even in Peter’s darkest hour, the brilliance of divine mercy shines through. Following His resurrection, Jesus sought out Peter not to condemn him but to restore him. This pivotal moment vividly illustrates
God’s unfathomable willingness to forgive, regardless of the depth of our failures.
Lamentations 3:22 reinforces the fact that “it is by the Lord’s mercies that believers are not consumed, for His compassions never fail.” This truth underscores the timeless nature of God’s mercies, extending beyond the moment of surrendering one’s life to Christ and continuing endlessly thereafter. However, it is crucial to exercise caution, as God’s mercy operates at His discretion, as articulated in Romans 9:15: “...I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” This serves as a reminder that God’s mercy is not to be taken for granted or manipulated but acknowledged with humility and reverence.
Finally, God’s mercy transcends human understanding, expressed as an enduring and unrestricted gift bestowed upon believers. Through Peter’s journey, we are reminded of divine mercy and the unyielding nature of God’s love. Therefore, let us approach God’s mercy with gratitude and humility, embrace its transformative power in our lives, and extend it to others with compassion and grace.

PRAYER IS A vital aspect of a Christian’s life. It involves daily expressions of respect, gratitude, and seeking help during challenging times. According to the Bible, prayer is a privilege that allows believers to feel the Holy Spirit, seek forgiveness, and receive guidance from God.
The Bible emphasizes the importance of maintaining a personal relationship with God through prayer. Christians are encouraged to “draw near” to God, highlighting the significance and privilege they have as believers in Christ. Several Bible verses underline the importance of prayer, such as Philippians 4:6 (ESV): “Do not be anxious about anything, butineverything, byprayerandpetition, with thanksgiving, presentyourrequeststoGod.”
Similarly, James 5:16 (NIV) states, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
Prayer connects Christians with God, providing guidance and an avenue to express gratitude. A strong prayer life helps believers overcome challenges and grow in their faith. Jeremiah 29:12 (NIV) promises, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Mark 11:24 reinforces this, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
Praying in Jesus’ name signifies invoking His authority and recognizing His power. It means approaching God with the confidence that Jesus Christ backs our prayers. This practice aligns our prayers with God’s will, following Jesus’ example, “Not my will, but yours be done.” By praying in Jesus’ name, we acknowledge God’s greater will and trust Him to work in our lives according to His plan.
John 14:13-14 assures us, “I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may

be glorified in the Son. If in my name you ask meforanything,Iwilldoit.” Additionally, John 16:24 emphasizes, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you willreceive, sothatyourjoymaybecomplete.” While concluding our prayers with ‘In Jesus’ name, Amen is common, it’s the intention behind our prayers and the love we pour into them that truly matter to God.

Prayer connects Christians with God, providing guidance and an avenue to express gratitude.
In challenging times, Christians often seek solace and direction through prayer, looking to Jesus Christ for strength and guidance. Isaiah 41:10 offers reassurance: “Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will helpthee;yea,Iwillupholdtheewiththeright hand of My righteousness.”
One of the most memorable prayers is the Lord’s Prayer, found in the New Testament, serving as a model for all Christians:
“Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thyname;thykingdomcome;thywillbedone onearthasitisinheaven.Giveusthisdayour daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen” (Luke 11:1-4).
During the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrian King Sennacherib, King Hezekiah prayed for divine intervention. His faith in God united his people against their powerful enemy: “Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so thatallkingdomsonearthmayknowthatyou alone, O Lord, are God” (2 Kings 19:19).
Moses frequently conversed with God, seeking blessings and guidance for the Israelites. His bold request to witness God’s glory was met with an extraordinary encounter on Mount Sinai, where God revealed His name and attributes. Moses’ face shone with God’s brilliance, symbolizing the divine presence he had witnessed as he pleaded, “Nowshowme your glory” (Exodus 33:18).
Never underestimate the power of prayer. As Christians, let us continue to pray, drawing strength and guidance from our relationship with God.

EDUCATION IS THE liberation of the human mind, a powerful force that can uplift and shape our future. We often hear the narrative that academic success is reserved for the wealthy and elite, and that our presence is valued only for representation. We are told to wait and hope for our talents to be noticed and validated by the majority. However, it’s time to rewrite this story. We must learn, teach, and advocate for the importance of education and its transformative impact on our lives. As Frederick Douglass stated, “besides using force, voting, and legal decisions, we also have the power of knowledge.” Let us embrace this wisdom and use education as a tool to become selfsufficient and break free from negative stereotypes.
Education is not a passive experience; it is a pursuit we actively engage in. Acquiring knowledge is like sharpening the edge of a sword on the rock of growth and understanding. Success requires proactive efforts in seeking knowledge and opportunities for personal and intellectual development. Through education, we define our identity, potential, and future, rather than allowing others to do so for us.
By taking control of your education, you take control of your future.
We must recognize that the value of education extends beyond academics. It is a silent weapon for success, equipping us with the tools and skills necessary to excel in all areas of life. Once sharpened, this weapon requires the polish of passion to fuel our growth. Brightening the sword symbolizes showcasing humanity in our work and expressing the emotions within our souls. When we are passionate and committed to learning, nothing can impede us. A robust educational foundation grants us confidence, independence, and the ability to think strategically.
Now more than ever, we must prioritize education and actively seek knowledge to counter the harmful narratives being pushed about us. By pursuing education, we take control of our lives, our story, and our future. With hard work, passion, and the right mindset, we can achieve greatness through education. This is education at its finest - the silent weapon.

HAVE YOU EVER woken up from a frightening or disturbing dream? You might be surprised to learn that such dreams can sometimes be messagesfromGod. In the Bible, God often used dreams to communicate important warnings and guidance.
Consider the story of King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4. The king experienced a terrifying dream that left him in extreme fear upon waking up. This dream, however, was a message from God. In Daniel 4:4-27, we see how God used the dream to warn Nebuchadnezzar to repent and change his ways. Unfortunately, the king ignored the warnings, and in Daniel 4:28-33, the dream’s dire prophecy came true. Despite this, God’s mercy allowed for repentance, and in Daniel 4:34-37, Nebuchadnezzar was restored to an even greater glory.
Similarly, in Genesis 41, Pharaoh of Egypt experienced two disturbing dreams in one night. Like Nebuchadnezzar, Pharaoh was troubled by his dreams. These dreams, interpreted by Joseph, revealed a divine warning about a future famine. Pharaoh heeded the warning and, with Joseph’s guidance, prepared Egypt to become a source of food for other nations.
These biblical examples illustrate that God can indeed communicate through unsettling dreams. When you wake up from a disturbing dream, it’s crucial to spend time with God, seeking His wisdom and guidance. Both King Nebuchadnezzar and Pharaoh sought interpretations from godly men. Likewise, we should turn to God and His Word rather than worldly sources for understanding.
After experiencing a troubling dream, immerse yourself in prayer and scripture. Communicate with God about your dreams, trusting that He hears you and will provide direction, protection, and peace as promised in His Word.

TO RENEW IS derived from the Greek word anakainōsis, meaning a renewal, renovation, or complete change for the better. Renewing the mind is more than just learning or knowing; it is about transformation.
Consider those who know that God has forgiven them yet continue to say, “I cannot forgive myself.” This struggle is a matter of the mind. Another might say, “Well, that’s not important, God loves me.” Yes, God’s love is constant, but overcoming failures requires a renewal of the mind. You must exchange your thoughts and opinions for those aligned with the Word of God. Allow the Word to change the way you think; do not attempt to change the Word. Many today strive to alter the Word instead of letting it transform their thinking. They celebrate sin and perversion, ignoring the fact that God offers deliverance. Jesus set us free not to do wrong, but to do right. Grace is not a license for sin; it is the answer to sin.
Let’s delve into Romans 12:1-2 (AMP):

• Presentation: “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1). A sacrifice has no plans of its own. Surrender everything on the altar. Give yourself fully to Jesus.
• Transformation: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). The Greek word metamorphoō signifies a change into another form, akin to metamorphosis. Do not conform to the world’s pattern but be transformed. Conformation refers to molding one’s mind and character according to another’s pattern. Transformation occurs as God renews your mind. With this renewed mind, you now possess the mind of Christ and are transformed. Your old ambitions, desires, and standards of right and wrong are replaced.

1. Recognition: Be intentional about identifying and capturing every thought that enters your mind. Compare these thoughts to God’s Word and His promises for your life. Ask yourself, “Does this thought align with God’s truth, or is it a lie from the enemy?”
2. Replacement: If a thought contradicts God’s Word, replace it with a promise from Scripture. Just as seeds grow into harvests, the thoughts you nurture in your heart will bear fruit in your life. Plant seeds of truth.

Renewing your mind is the pathway to understanding and fulfilling God’s perfect will for your life.

3. Reinforcement: When negative or ungodly thoughts arise, reject them and replace them with God’s Word. Write down affirmations based on Scripture and place them in visible locations as constant reminders of God’s truth.
4. Visualization: Engage your imagination to envision the reality of living according to God’s Word. As you replace negative thoughts with godly ones, visualize how this new mindset will impact your life. Visualization can accelerate your alignment with God’s will.
5. Affirmation: Create and repeat affirmations that align with God’s Word. These affirmations, coupled with visualization, can solidify the truth of God’s Word in your heart and mind.
• Realization: “Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2). The will of God is revealed through your renewed mind as He brings opportunities your way.

Thus, Presentation + Transformation = Realization (God-given dream equation). Renewing your mind is the pathway to understanding and fulfilling God’s perfect will for your life.

By actively renewing your mind, you can experience the abundant life promised by Jesus. This process involves recognizing negative thoughts, replacing them with God’s truth, and reinforcing this truth through visualization and affirmations.

Seize the Day and Rise Above Regrets; Today is a Gift: I spoke to a woman who, with a sigh, confessed she wished she could go back to her twenties, to her 22nd year specifically. When I asked why, she said she’d make better choices in marriage and career.
One Shot, Wise Choices: This reminds us that the decisions we make today shape our lives. We only have one shot, so make the most of it. Every day is a precious gift, never to be repeated.
Focus and Pursue Greatness: Imagine if historical figures like Jesus, Abraham Lincoln, and influential pastors were unfocused. Their greatness wouldn’t exist without focus. Just like them, God has a plan for you. Embrace it, eliminate distractions, and pursue your goals.
Second Chances: Made mistakes? Feeling it’s too late? Not true! I met a 70-yearold flight attendant who achieved her dream job at age 60. God isn’t finished with you.
A New Day, a New Start: Each day is a chance to make things right, let go of regrets, and prove you can rise, no matter the setbacks. You have the power to rise again: “The righteous may fall seven times, but they rise again” (Proverbs 24:16).

Embrace the present. Learn from the past. Pursue your greatness. Stay strong and significant. God bless you.

JOY IS AN endless pursuit, a wellspring of inner strength and well-being. It stands as a powerful indicator of good health, demanding complete surrender, much like love—a fruit of the spirit. Choosing joy is a deliberate decision, necessitating intentionality in everyday life. To fully realize God’s potential and savor life, one must actively cultivate a joyful lifestyle, even in the face of chaos and uncertainties.
ON THE 8TH of April, 2024, observers across various regions were treated to one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles: a solar eclipse. As the moon shifted across the sun, it gradually covered its light, creating a dramatic decrease in daylight. Those directly in the path of the eclipse experienced a brief period of totality, where the moon completely covered the sun, revealing the sun’s radiant corona. People from different walks of life and locations shared varied experiences and reactions. Some communities held gatherings or viewing parties, while others watched in quiet contemplation. For many, it was a moment of wonder and reflection on the vastness of our universe.
For me, this would have been my second time viewing a total solar eclipse in real time. I vividly remember witnessing my first solar eclipse on March 29, 2006 . It was my second semester of college, and rumors had been swirling earlier in the day that our muchanticipated first semester results would be released later that day. I was in the library, indulging in my daily routine of reading from encyclopedias when my phone rang; It was my classmate calling to break the news that the results had just been released. I quickly signed out of the library and headed to my department. As I made the long walk from the library to my department, I said a prayer and hoped for the best. Suddenly I noticed that the bright day began to turn dark. I looked up to see one of the prettiest sights ever. Quickly, I made my way out of the open and into a building, witnessing the eclipse unfold, a moment I would never forget.
This time around, after hearing about the upcoming eclipse on the news, I intended to observe it in real-time. I planned to go on a road trip to Buffalo, New York - one of the prime locations that experienced the full totality of the eclipse. Unfortunately, life had other plans, and I ended up observing the eclipse through social media, with my Instagram and WhatsApp filled with reels and stories capturing the event as it happened.
Joy is a strong predictor of good health. Research indicates that joyful individuals tend to have healthier blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, and better heart health. Living joyfully boosts the immune system, reduces stress and pain, enhances longevity, and promotes a higher quality of life. It is your responsibility to choose joy as a lifestyle.
Consider the following tips to help you cultivate joy:
• Cultivate a Gratitude Lifestyle: Be thankful for everything.
• Develop Your Spiritual life: Engage in prayer, faith, and hope.
• Engage in Fun Exercise or Sports: Focus on enjoyment rather than competition.
• Take Regular Breaks: Observe a lunch hour or half-hour.
• Learn to Let Go: Surrender what you cannot control. Avoid motivational stress that exceeds your capacity. Be selfaware.
• Forgive and Move On: Don’t hold grudges.
• Set Boundaries: Learn to say “No” without feeling guilty.
• Surround Yourself with Joyful People: Identify relationships that drain your joy and decide how to manage them. Remember, it’s your choice.
This virtual experience through social media, though not as immersive as my first, still offered a profound moment of reflection. Observing the eclipse through the eyes of others was a humbling reminder of man’s small place within God’s grand design. Watching the moon dance across the sun, I was struck by the perfect choreography of celestial bodies that God set in motion at creation. Many who observed the eclipse spoke of a profound sense of awe. Families and friends who gathered to watch described a feeling of being part of something larger than themselves, a common reflection during such spectacular events.
On a side note, viewing a solar eclipse requires caution to avoid eye damage. Experts recommend using solar viewing glasses or indirect viewing methods such as pinhole projectors. These practices ensure that everyone can enjoy the event safely.
In Scripture, celestial events often symbolize significant spiritual truths. For example, in Luke 21:25, Jesus speaks of “signs in the sun, moon, and stars” accompanying divine moments. Similarly, in the book of Joshua, we find a miraculous event where Joshua prayed for the sun and moon to stand still, and they did (Joshua 10:12-13). This powerful act was a sign of God’s favor and intervention in human affairs. As we reflect on our own eclipse experiences, how might we see God moving in our lives today? Are there moments where He has shown His power and providence in ways we might have overlooked?
As we reflect on the solar eclipse, we are reminded of God’s power and majesty. Each heavenly body moves at His command, and each event in the universe unfolds under His watchful eyes. As we await the next celestial spectacle, let us always remember the Creator who made the heavens and the earth, and consider how He might be using the ordinary, and the extraordinary, to guide and shape our lives.

Just as the universe operates smoothly under God’s laws, we can trust Him to manage our lives.

THE UNIVERSE IS vast and aweinspiring, filled with wonders like galaxies and stars, each unique and significant. As we gaze upon the night sky, we see more than distant twinkling stars; we witness a magnificent tapestry painted by God.

Did you know that stars are born in places called galaxies? There are billions of galaxies, each containing millions or even billions of stars. Our own galaxy, the Milky Way, resembles a spinning whirl of starlight when viewed from afar. Stars are not mere points of light; they are enormous, glowing spheres of gas, many times larger than our sun, which is the heart of our solar system. Our solar system is like a large family of planets with Earth as one of its members. We have neighbors like Mars, known as the Red Planet, and massive Jupiter, so large that over 1,300 Earths could fit inside it. Saturn dazzles with its beautiful rings, and Neptune is famously windy. Each planet has unique characteristics that make it fascinating and essential.

“Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them. Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ This promise not only highlighted the vastness of God’s creation but also the magnitude of His covenant with Abraham, ensuring his descendants would be innumerable. The Bible also teaches that God created the entire universe, including every star, by His powerful word. In Psalm 8, David reflects, “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of?” This verse highlights God’s omnipotence and the special attention He pays to humanity, despite our minuscule presence in His vast creation.

The moon, Earth’s closest celestial companion, lights our night sky. Though it appears smooth and spherical from Earth, it features mountains and valleys up close, resembling our own planet’s topography. Space also hosts comets and asteroids. Comets, often described as dirty snowballs, sometimes come close enough to Earth to be visible without a telescope, trailing glowing tails behind them.
The Bible frequently references the stars and the sky just as people have always been captivated by the heavens. In Genesis 15:5, God leads Abraham outside and tells him,

Observing the universe’s grandeur is like viewing an expansive painting that showcases God’s creativity. Every celestial body, from the smallest comet to the largest galaxy, is perfectly orchestrated. This intricate design helps us comprehend God’s power, intelligence, and creativity— He crafted everything to function harmoniously.
Just as the universe operates smoothly under God’s laws, we can trust Him to manage our lives. Even in times of confusion or difficulty, we can find solace in knowing that God has a grand plan for us, just as He does for the entire universe.

It all begins with a seed. Once a seed is planted in Mercy Court, the journey of growth and development into a pacesetter begins. See the different stages below:

In the seeds class, we focus on the elementary concepts of the Christian faith using play-based methods. We learn through fun activities like singing and dancing, playing make-believe, acting out scriptures, lots of body movements, games, and, of course, snacks! Teachers and volunteers in this class actively participate with the children in bringing God’s word to them while keeping them excited about
church. By the time the children in this group turn four, they would be familiar with basic concepts like knowing who God is, the character of Jesus (e.g., Jesus is kind), “Jesus loves me”, “We are Jesus’ buddies” and many more. Our class is not the regular kind of class as sometimes, we follow our schedule and other times, we just follow our mood for the day; what matters is we love Jesus and He loves us!

The seedlings are a vibrant, excited, and eager-to-learn bunch, committed to having maximum fun while learning about God and being a Christian. The seedlings’ curriculum exposes them to slightly more advanced topics such as the Trinity, salvation, kingdom principles and navigating various interpersonal relationships as a Christian child. Seedlings engage in fun activities, arts and craft, Bible reading and storytelling.
The teachers guide the seedlings through the curriculum topics, including periods of discussion where the seedlings can share their learned and personal experiences. Seedlings are able to work more independently and get simple homework to get parents involved in their learning. They are able to help clean up their class and maintain tidy spaces. By the time they turn 7, a seedling should be able to explain basic concepts about God, Jesus and living life as a Christian.

The Sprouts are confident, inquisitive, smart and hardworking. They have fun while learning further advanced curriculum topics such as discovering and developing their potential as Christian children in addition to the foundational topics. In addition to Bible topics, they are taught life lessons to help them in their daily interactions outside the church such as in school, with a foundation in God’s word.
Their wonderful teachers/ volunteers provide them more independent work as well as scripture memorization and take home assignments. They participate in club activities, arts & crafts, recitals, drama, singing and dancing. By the time the sprouts turn 10 years, they would have learned important lessons like friendship, dominion and authority, to mention a few, and they would be ready to transition into Vines.

The Vines are independent in their thinking, self-aware, curious and inquisitive about moral issues. In addition to the foundational and more advanced Biblical concepts, their curriculum covers more complex topics such as how to deploy their gifts into the community. They are assigned specific Biblical topics to research and prepare either individually or in groups, and they present their findings in class. They then receive feedback from their peers and teachers providing them an opportunity to develop public speaking skills.
A SNEAK PEEK INTO OUR COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM!
Each class covers selected age appropriate topics from this curriculum

By the time a Vine turns 13 and is ready to graduate to the teenage class, they have a solid foundation in God’s word which continues to be watered as they flourish. They would have also developed a stronger sense of right and wrong, learned how to tune their ears to hearing from God, apply their hearts to understanding, and nurture great friendships! From this stage, we transition them to ‘New Wine’ and they join the main church workforce.
POPULARLY KNOWN AS ‘Farmers,’ our God’s Heritage teachers are born again, Spirit-filled Christians with a heart for children. We welcome the children during our Sunday services and help them to activate their faith and grow in God’s love. We dedicate our time and resources to ensure that the children and teenagers in our care maximize their potentials and model excellent living in service to God and humanity. Our Farmers are patient, dedicated, full of faith, accountable, compassionate, and excellent with a heart for service. Our farmers are also fun, they love to laugh and give lots of hugs too!.

• Our children are super gifted and talented.
• Everyone is welcome. We have teachers/volunteers who have received various types of training on working with children with special needs.
• We love to celebrate birthdays and hold other special programs like: Easter Fest, Children’s day, Summer blast, Children’s takeover services, and Christmas carols.

Being a New Wine is a big deal! It’s like getting a sneak peek into the world of the adult church. We, the New Wines, are a tight-knit group of teenagers on a mission to figure out what it really means to be a believer in today’s world. As part of the adult church, we get to use our talents to serve God, and have some fun and cre-

We are a vibrant group of teens designed to inspire, empower, and equip young individuals to lead and excel in every aspect of their lives. We grow our talents during Sunday service and as a group we thrive off learning from each other. As older teens, we are working our way towards adulthood, so we thrive by learning from each other’s experiences and finding ways to support ourselves in our transition to college or just the workforce in general. Nonetheless, we have the Word of God as our guide!
As Junior Pacesetters, we believe that the journey of personal growth and leadership begins early, and our mission is to provide a supportive environment where young people can thrive and reach their full potential in Christ through mentorship and discipling!
Once they turn 20, a Junior Pacesetter graduates into the Youth and Young Adult (YAYA) group as a Christ-like Pacesetter who through God’s mercy maximizes their potential, modeling excellent living while serving God and humanity.
ative ways to spread the message to our generation! Being teenagers, we’re full of questions about how to navigate our faith in the real world; but it’s not all serious stuff. We also have a blast with fun activities at our fellowship meetings, which bring us closer together and make our journey all the more exciting!
Teachers of New Wine and Junior Pacesetters (Mercy Court’s teenage ministry) are a group of vibrant, energetic, and fun-loving adults! We come to the ministry from the place of responding to God’s call to be part of an important agenda on earth, raising young ones for HIM. Where it gets interesting is that we also wear the hat of a teenager. While we bring them God’s word, we also prioritize bringing it in the way that is most appealing and sensible to them. Although we are two separate groups, we mostly work together to plan meetings, events and outings for both groups. Doing things together makes us even more unique!

Let us come together in gratitude and praise for the countless blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

May the spirit of love and unity continue to flourish within our church as we celebrate another year of blessings.

On behalf of the Youth and the Young Adult (YAYA), we say Happy anniversary church family!!

Here's to another year of growth, love, and fellowship within our church community.

May the love of God continue to guide and inspire us as we celebrate this special anniversary.

With Love, YAYA, MERCY COURT

We are filled with excitement and overflowing with the joy of the Holy Spirit today as we celebrate this special occasion of the 10th year anniversary of Mercy Court.
God has built His church to magnify His glory and we are the fruit of His labor. May He continue to use our church to fulfill His glory.

AGILE METHODOLOGY AND scrum framework are among the most powerful tools that have emerged in the ever-evolving landscape of project management. They empower IT project teams to enhance flexibility, promote collaboration, and improve efficiency in delivering projects. These approaches are particularly well-suited for industries that face rapid changes, uncertainty, and a need for continuous adaptation. By implementing agile methodology and scrum framework, project teams can confidently tackle any challenge and achieve success.
Agile teams work in short development cycles, iterating on features and seeking continuous improvement. The agile methodology advocates for continuous customer involvement throughout the project’s life-cycle and prioritizes pragmatic solutions over strict adherence to predetermined plans.
The key agile principles include: customer satisfaction, iterative development (breaking down projects into smaller, manageable parts which allows for continuous feedback and adjustments), collaborative teams, and embracing change (this approach encourages flexibility and adaptability, which are essential qualities in today’s fast-paced business environment).
The Scrum Framework
Scrum is an assertive and highly effective framework for managing complex projects. It provides clear-cut roles, ceremonies, and artifacts that guide teams through their agile journey with utmost precision and efficiency.
The key components of scrum include: product owner (represents the customer and defines project requirements), scrum master (facilitates the scrum process and ensures the team adheres to its principles),
- Kola Obimakinde SPC, PMP
and development team (self-organizing, cross-functional group responsible for delivering the product).
fits of Agile
Adaptability: Agile allows teams to respond to changing requirements, ensuring the final product meets evolving needs.
Customer Satisfaction: Regular feedback and collaboration with customers result in a product that aligns closely with their expectations.
Improved Communication: Daily stand-ups and regular ceremonies enhance communication within the team, reducing misunderstandings and delays.
Efficiency and Productivity: The iterative nature of Agile and Scrum promotes continuous improvement, leading to enhanced efficiency and productivity over time.
Risk Management: Regular check-ins and adaptability to change help manage risks effectively throughout the project.

The successful implementation of agile and scrum methodologies in an organization necessitates a commitment to, comprehension of, and adaptation to a more collaborative work culture. While undertaking this endeavor, challenges may arise, such as resistance to change, which can hinder progress. However, with proper training and a willingness to adapt, these obstacles can be overcome.
Agile methodology and the scrum framework have completely revolutionized project management by emphasizing adaptability, collaboration, and customer satisfaction. Organizations that embrace these principles can foster innovation, respond effectively to change, and ultimately, deliver successful projects in today’s dynamic business environment.

Using elastic hair ties directly on your hair can harm your hair when you try to pull it out, that is why using a scrunchie is better. Scrunchies are made of fabric covering which is soft on the hair.
Materials needed: fabric (preferably one with some stretch), elastic band, scissors, safety pin (2), needle & thread.

2. Cut a piece of elastic about 8-10 inches long.
3. (For a neater finish/Extra step - fold one of the shorter edge of the fabric strip towards the wrong side and hand press it to stay in place)
4. Fold fabric strip lengthwise with right sides facing each other.

‘THERE IS MORE’: EMBRACING A LIFE BEYOND COMPLACENCY
THROUGHOUT SCRIPTURES, THE timeless truth of ‘there is more’ resonates deeply in lives woven with threads of faith and purpose. Consider the patriarchs: Abraham, who left his homeland on a faith-filled journey with God, and Moses, who defied the culture he was raised in to pursue God’s mandate for the Israelites. The Bible also highlights matriarchs like Ruth, whose commitment to family led to one ofthegreateststoriesofGod’sprovision, placingthesolitary in families and giving the desolate a home. Esther’s courage further exemplifies this truth, showing that God can save His people even when the odds seem insurmountable.
Like these human examples, scripture abounds with narratives of individuals who dared to believe in the “more” that God had in store for them. From their lives, we see that this pursuit of ‘more’ transcends mere ambition to fulfill purpose. It embodies a divine call to push through adversity, rise above complacency, and embrace the boundless promises of God’s plan. These stories resonate with the resounding message of God’s provision for those who trust in Him. As believers in our day and time, we are called to emulate the faith and perseverance demonstrated by these biblical figures. We are called to resist the temptation to settle for mediocrity and instead fix our gaze upon the infinite possibilities that lie beyond our current circumstances. Embracingtheconceptof‘thereismore’involvessurrendering ourplanstoGod’ssovereignwillandtrustinginHisprovisionat everystep. It requires a willingness to step out in faith, even when the future is uncertain, confident that the God of the path can be trusted. As we celebrate the tenth anniversary of Mercy Court and look ahead, let’s dare to believe - because there is more.
-
Ibitola Omotayo

AND HE SAID to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’ - Mark 16:15
As Christians, our most important duty is to love God and our neighbors. What greater form of love exists than helping a person move from darkness to light? Evangelizing in today’s world may seem challenging, but it can be approached in various meaningful and effective ways. By utilizing the word of God, modern technology, personal interactions, and community involvement, we can win more souls for Christ.
Certain factors should be in place before one can evangelize effectively, and they require constant and periodic review to ensure we remain on track. These factors include: a. The posture of our hearts, b. A passion for lost souls, and c. A candid prayer life.
Here are some strategies we can employ to evangelize effectively:
1. Lifestyle Evangelism: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:16. The most powerful testimony is your own life. People are often more influenced by what they see in your behavior than by what they hear. Integrate your faith into all areas of your life, including your hobbies and interests, and share your faith through personal conversations with friends, family, and colleagues.
- Omone Imoisi

2. Technological Evangelism: Utilize social media, blogging, church outreach programs, and Christian media. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and personal blogs can be used to share Bible verses, testimonies, and inspirational messages. Create engaging content that reflect Christian values and teachings.

RESEARCH SHOWS THAT a lifestyle founded on gratitude helps to improve overall mental health and

build stronger interpersonal relationships. Studies have found that gratitude significantly lowers the risk of depression, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders, including alcohol and nicotine dependence. Additionally, growing research suggests that practicing gratitude can enhance physical health. Since stress and anxiety are known to increase the risk of heart disease, gratitude may help lower this risk and contribute to a healthier heart.
Here are some actionable tips to help you develop a gratitude lifestyle:
• Keep a Gratitude Journal: Regularly note things you’re grateful for, whether in a journal or a mobile app.
• Practice Saying “Thank You”: Express appreciation to people around you; don’t assume they already know.
• Give or Volunteer: Contribute to your community and invest in others.
• Appreciate Nature: Take regular walks in quiet neighborhoods, enjoy the natural surroundings, and connect with the creator of nature.

• Practice Mindful Eating: Use mealtimes as an opportunity to be thankful for the food you have.
• Spend Time with Family: Relish and create memories with loved ones.
• Keep a Photo Album: Look through it during low moments to rekindle feelings of gratitude.
• Maintain Positive Relationships: Attend gatherings that foster hope, love, and faith, such as church programs.
• Celebrate Milestones: Acknowledge birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays; celebrate at every opportunity.
• Be Intentional About Gratitude: Avoid comparison and competition; focus on being the best version of yourself.
By integrating these practices into your daily life, you can foster a more grateful mindset and enjoy the numerous mental and physical health benefits that come with it.

THROUGHOUT HISTORY, MUSIC has been a universal language that transcends barriers and touches the depths of our souls. In the realm of faith, it takes on an even more profound significance. The Bible contains verses that exhort us to praise the Lord through the gift of song, such as Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:20, and Psalms 57:7. These verses convey a powerful message: music is a sacred vessel by which we can express our devotion and gratitude to the divine.
The Psalms, serving as a hymnbook, offer a rich tapestry of poetic expressions of faith. In Psalms 57:7, David’s inspiring words, “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody,” encapsulate unwavering devotion and commitment to praising through music. This verse invites believers to cultivate a steadfast heart and use the power of praise to connect with the Lord on a deeper level.
However, today’s world presents a complex dynamic where the love of music and songs can be swayed by secular influences. Staying rooted in faith amidst these infl uences requires intentional choices and discernment. Seek guidance from the Word and set clear boundaries regarding the types of music you consume. Explore faithinspired music genres that uplift your spirit and enhance your fellowship with God.

URING YOUR ROUTINE wellness check or follow-up appointment for conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes, your physician may have requested a lipid panel test. This laboratory assessment evaluates blood cholesterol levels, including the lipoproteins responsible for transporting them. Cholesterol is essential for cell membrane integrity and bile acid synthesis crucial for digestion. Lipoproteins serve as carriers for cholesterol, categorized by their density, including high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL).
HDL, known as “good cholesterol,” transports cholesterol to the liver for elimination, while elevated LDL levels contribute to arterial cholesterol build “up”, posing a risk for heart disease, hence its designation as “bad cholesterol.”
like oatmeal and whole-grain cereals, which hinder cholesterol absorption in the digestive system.
• Embrace a diet rich in fruits and vegetables to bolster overall nutritional intake.
• Incorporate legumes such as beans, peas, and lentils into your meals for added fiber and plant-based protein.
• Integrate omega-3 fatty acid-rich fish like salmon, tuna, and mackerel to promote heart health.
• Monitor salt intake meticulously, avoiding additional seasoning to mitigate hypertension risk.
• Utilize food nutrition labels to make informed

In conclusion, music in faith transcends mere entertainment; it is a profound expression of our devotion to the divine. By making intentional choices and seeking spiritually uplifting music, believers can use this universal language to strengthen their connection with the Lord and enrich their spiritual journey.

Whatever you want God to bless, you give it to him first.
A man that will be used of God must be humble. The best way forward is forward.
Success is how high you bounce when you hit the bottom.

A man is already defeated when his mind cannot capture victory.
Be careful how you think, for your life is shaped by your thoughts.
You become what you continue to see or hear. We are what we think, and our lives run in the direction of our thoughts.
Our minds are likened to a garden and we have to cultivate it. We are responsible for the kind of seeds sown into it. If no useful seeds are put into it, an abundance of useless seeds will fall theren and continue to produce their kind.

WHILE CHILDREN ARE gifts given to us by God, being a parent is an honourable and rewarding assignment. God’s desire is that, as parents, we would train our children in the Lord’s way. In a world where ungodliness is on the rise and people seem to follow the trends of the world rather than the word of God, it is essential for parents to stand in the gap for their children by exposing them early to the word of God and praying earnestly over them. Someone asked if there’s an age at which we should stop praying for our children. The answer is no; we should always continue to pray for our children. If you haven’t started yet, it’s never too late or too early to begin praying for them, whether you are hoping to conceive, awaiting delivery, or already have children. Here are some examples of prayers to say daily and intentionally for your children:

1. Prayer for Guidance
Isaiah 54:13 (NIV): “All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace.”
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, my children will take pleasure in Your teachings and word. Your word guides them daily, and You reward them with Your peace in Jesus’ name.
2. Declaration of God’s Blessings Upon Your Children
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV): “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, today I declare that my children are blessed in Jesus’ name. Your face shines upon my children, and they experience the peace of God in their lives in Jesus’ name.
3. Prayer Against the Agenda of the Enemy
Job 5:12 (ESV): “He frustrates the devices of the crafty so that their hands achieve no success.”
Prayer: Father, destroy every plan of the enemy over my children in the name of Jesus.
4. Prayer for Growth in All Areas of Life
Luke 2:52 (ESV): “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.”
Prayer: Father, in Jesus’ name, my children shall grow in Your wisdom. My children will find favor with You and man. My children will not experience any delay in their physical growth.
5. Prayer to Avert Evil/Disaster Over Your Children
Psalm 91:10 (NIV): “No harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.”
Prayer: Oh Lord, wherever my children go this day, watch over them jealously and let no evil befall them.
6. Prayer for Transformation
Romans 12:2 (ESV): “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good, pleasing, and perfect.”
Prayer: In the name of Jesus, I pray that my children will have no pleasure in walking in sin. I pray that my children will let You transform their lives. Give my children a heart that yearns for Your will.
7. Prayer for Your Children to Walk in Truth
3 John 1:4 (NIV): “I have no greater joy than
to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
Prayer: Oh Lord, as my children are exposed to Your word, help them to walk in truth only. Let my children’s ears be deaf to the lies of the devil.
ESV (English Standard Version), KJV (King James Version), NLT (New Living Translation), and NIV (New International Version)

EVERY MORNING, A certain man went fishing with his friends to catch fish to bring home to eat. Each time they went, the man got a small stick with him. His friends noticed that whenever he caught a fish, he would measure it against this stick. If the fish was longer than the stick, he would throw it back into the river. If the fish was shorter, he would keep it.
One day, his friends asked why he always threw the big fish back into the river. He explained that he had measured his frying pan with the stick before leaving his house. If a fish was longer than the stick, it was too big for his frying pan, so he didn’t keep it.
Are you like this man? Do you constantly discard ideas because they seem too big to handle? Have you ignored friends who tell you that you have the potential to be a billionaire, but you dismiss it because you haven’t started that business yet?
Consider how you would advise the man with the frying pan. Tell him not to throw the big fish back into the river but instead to cut them into smaller pieces so they fit his frying pan. In the same way, take those big ideas of yours and break them down into manageable steps. Write them down and plan how to achieve them. Remember, God is the giver of good gifts. Go to Him in prayer and ask for his help in realizing those great ideas.

May the seeds of faith you plant today flourish into a garden of hope, inspiring future generations. Happy 10th Anniversary, Mercy Court! Our family is deeply grateful for the love and support you have extended to us, creating lasting and cherished memories. We pray for your continued success and blessings in Jesus’ name. Amen. INTERNATIONAL PRAISE DAY 2023
From Korede Olaoluwa
Glory be to God for the 10th anniversary of Mercy Court. This was the first family church I joined when I got into the United States in 2014 as a student. Mercy Court has given me a lot and built my faith. As a student, I was blessed with material and spiritual gifts. Mercy Court would give us provisions and food as often as possible.
It was at Mercy Court I learned about serving in church, and also where I was blessed with the supernatural gift of speaking in tongues that I still experience now years later. I am thankful to God to have found Mercy Court. Congratulations to the MC family!

Finally to Mercy Court members including our other pastors, ministers, heads of departments, workers and many volunteers, this is just the beginning and a springboard to where we are headed.
Congratulations Mercy Court!
IT HAS SINCERELY been a great privilege to be part of Mercy Court’s 10th year anniversary celebration planning. I look back at where God has brought us from with much joy and gratitude, and I look forward to the years to come with great expectation and faith in my heart. God has indeed been merciful, gracious and faithful to us in Mercy Court these past 10 years.
Coincidentally, during this period, I am also celebrating the 10th year anniversary of a major milestone for my family. What I can say in all of this is that God’s word is sure and never fails, therefore let us learn to hear, receive and trust His word with patience at all times (Luke 8:15).
To the awesome anniversary planning committee members who have worked tirelessly for many months to ensure the smooth

and successful running of the anniversary celebration, may God bless and replenish your time, energy and resources in ways you never expected. To Pastor John and Rosemary Itakpe, may God reward your labor of love above and beyond what you have imagined.
Finally to Mercy Court members including our other pastors, ministers, heads of departments, workers and many volunteers, this is just the beginning and a springboard to where we are headed. God’s goodness and mercy will continue to follow us all the days of our lives and we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Philipians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
