Pradeep: Out Of Isolation
Pradeep* is a ten-year-old boy living in rural Nepal. As a person with disability, he was isolated and had little opportunity to play or learn with other children. In his area, people with disability are often considered to be ‘untouchable’.
His mother tried to keep him safe by withdrawing him from community life and keeping him out of school. The family faced many challenges because of their poverty.
When Pradeep’s mother heard about the Child Club in her community, she saw an opportunity for her son, but he had to be enrolled in school to join. She was reluctant but with support from our Partner, and others in her community group, she enrolled Pradeep in school.
Since then, Pradeep has grown from an isolated child with low self-confidence, to a lively, sociable student who is making great progress in Grade One at school. ‘I like going to school.’ Pradeep said. ‘I like colouring and drawing.’

Pradeep’s mother is no longer anxious about his wellbeing; she’s an advocate for other children with disability.
‘I hope this project will support people with disabilities in the future’ she said.
Thanks to your regular gift to the Vulnerable Children Fund, our Christian Partners can support families like Pradeep’s, promoting inclusion and providing access to disability support services for children with disability in communities around the world.

Postcard From Uganda:
After over two years working remotely due to COVID restrictions, Nerissa Prangnell, International Programs Coordinator, returned to Uganda in September 2022 to connect with our Christian Partners and the children they’re serving.

‘Two-year-long school closures—the longest in the world—will have a lasting impact on children in Uganda. Young children missed starting school at the right age, while older children finished their schooling prematurely because of the pandemic.
In this context, our Christian Partner in Uganda is supporting children in powerful ways. Children enjoy being part of a Child Club, where they learn about their rights, learn English and build relationships. They’re encouraged to be creative—making skipping ropes from long grasses, footballs from material offcuts, and sculptures from local clay.

It was wonderful to see kids having fun in their Club and to hear from mothers how they’ve been able to join savings groups, save money and take loans to start businesses, so they can fund their children’s schooling and provide nutritious food for their families.’
PLEASE PRAY
‘For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.’
