This year on International Women's Day, The Zubin Foundation is choosing to launch its publication "Time to UnMute | Understanding Forced Marriage in Hong Kong"
Forced marriage is a complex and global issue. Hong Kong is not exempt from this practice. Since 2016, The Zubin Foundation has received requests for assistance and guidance from Hong Kong girls and women, forced to marry, through calls on our Call Mira helpline. They have also come to us through our counselling service and young women scholarships programme.
The objective of this report is to amplify the voices of Hong Kong women who have experienced forced (and early) marriage. At the launch, we will share common themes from interviews with them, what other countries have done to address forced marriage, and explore what Hong Kong may consider. Solving the problem of forced marriage requires a multi-pronged approach
