RENDERING USING GENERATIVE AI

Using generative AI as a research tool, I explored what a personalized home could mean for a specific individual. By studying my project partner’s preferred living conditions, hobbies, family relationships, and long term goals, I developed a design concept rooted in his daily life and values.

This research shaped the spatial program and interior requirements, resulting in a 1,500 square foot home tailored to his needs. The layout reflects both functional priorities and emotional qualities of comfort and identity. To better understand how the design could be constructed, I built a platform framing model. This helped connect the conceptual idea of “feeling at home” to real structural systems and material decisions.

SECTION PERSPECTIVE USING D5 RENDER

In response to the middle income housing shortage in Fayetteville, Arkansas, I developed a housing proposal focused on affordability, adaptability, and community connection. The project considers how efficient construction methods and thoughtful planning can support attainable housing while maintaining quality of space.

Each unit includes a flexible second floor space that can adapt to changing needs over time. A large cut out porch opens directly to a shared community area, encouraging interaction between neighbors while preserving a sense of individuality. Precedent studies of missing middle housing informed decisions about density, scale, and layout.

To better understand cost conscious construction systems, I created an assembly model demonstrating CMU block construction combined with light wood framing. This study strengthened my understanding of how structure, materials, and economics influence residential design.

INSTRUCTOR - GREG HERMAN

EXPLODED ISOMETRIC

With the ongoing interest in establishing a dedicated art gallery in Fayetteville, I designed a gallery located south of the Fayetteville Public Library. The primary focus of the project was developing an even, indirect lighting system to support the display of artwork without glare or harsh shadows.

I studied the structure of aircraft hangars to explore large span systems and how they could shape open gallery spaces. The building form emerges from the ground, with gallery volumes and niches extending outward to create sculptural moments within the landscape.
