The view begins at the M8’s iconic spiral staircase, drawing the eye upward through its sculptural form, and extends toward the surrounding historical buildings, where traditional façades frame the scene and highlight the contrast between contemporary design and heritage architecture.

The murals are framed by the arches of the cityscape, drawing viewers into the rich culture of Macao, and the natural elements surrounding the city.
The rooftop are chosen as the background, from M8 to the historical street. The rooftops reflect the changes in Macau’s history.
One of the most important ways we see the world is through windows, looking in and out. The transformation of the windows from square to arched suggests a change in the urban fabric around m8: from the residential neighborhood to the historical and cultural district.

Along the rooftop, we have set up many special events related to Macau, and these public and private events are intertwined on the rooftop. The interaction between people and the environment creates a rich and colorful microcosm of Macau.
Mosaic tiles are a specialty of Macao’s culture, and we have extracted them and slightly modified them to form part of our arched wall, reassembling two of Macao’s specialties to form a new cityscape.
The dominant colours are blue, representing the lapis lazuli tiles, and gold, representing the Macao m8, on top of which a slight adjustment was made to form our colour palette.

RE: WASTE redefines how people can reshape their perception of waste as a transformative agent. It serves as a reminder that urban nature is not separate from human excess but continually reshaped by it. Through the framework cycles of ‘Expose’ and ‘Evolve’, the fifth nature for Chong Pang’s residential landscape will be an urban living ecology of waste and renewal.
