A Landscape Documentation of Chong Pang

This work is a visual illustration that explores the spatial observations of everyday experiences of Chong Pang through its public and residential landscapes. The photos are arranged to highlight a layered narrative of Chong Pang, from its economic fragments to the dayto-day experiences under the void decks and its distinctive cultural and spiritual essence that interconnects the community together. The sequencing order shows from how Chong Pang in the beginning greets you with a visible flow of trade and livelihood, before it shifts into more private and intimate communal spaces in-between and under HDB blocks where social life unravels. Followed by observations of religious rituals and offerings practices during special occasions (eg. Hungry Ghost Festival, etc. ), accentuate how beliefs and superstition have embedded into their daily life, while bringing importance and deeper meaning to the community of Chong Pang.
