& CLOUD

"SEED & CLOUD"

What is the meaning of seed and cloud? They represent different perspectives, this is, microcosmic and macroscopic. The seed perspective comes from my childhood memories of growing fruits and flowers in my grandmother’s small garden. Whenever I come to a new city, I always pay particular attention to the local varieties of trees. From different flower shapes to the rhythm of reasons, the life of a seed can tell me the story of a place - its geography, climate, and even cultural practices. The cloud perspective is derived from what I have seen from airplane portholes on countless flights. Vast plots of farmland, winding rivers, and crowded urban buildings - all come into my view in an appearance not the same as what they are usually seen and are then painted on my canvas. This protfolio unfolds from two perspectives, showing different worlds from the author's eyes.

01 BENEATH THE WAVES

Designing for Sea Level Rise

Location: Portland, Maine, USA

Type: Individual Work Area: 100ha

Instructor: Yuan Tian

E-mail: tianyuan@bjfu.edu.can

Project introduction:

As global temperatures continue to rise, the problem of rising sea levels is becoming more serious. Portland has a large area of water and faces serious threats. In addition, the area is often hit by hurricanes, which has caused serious damage to the local economy.

This project studies the Portland area and explores how to deal with rising sea levels and marine climate disasters while increasing local people's income and forming sustainable development for people, climate and environment. The problem of rising sea levels can be dealt with by increasing levees, seabed roughness and wetlands. The local economy can be promoted by establishing a fishery system, introducing kelp farming and using oysters to absorb pollution.

As sea temperatures continue to rise, aquatic animals adapted to cold water environments have to move northward, including lobsters, which are the main aquatic product.

The local fishery structure was destroyed, affecting local fishery income.

Ecological Funeral Venue Design

Location: Xianggang,China

Type: Individual Work Area: 10ha

Instructor: Ke Ding

E-mail: 9ear@sina.com

Project introduction

With the development of urbanization, a large amount of land has been used for construction, and the area left for cemeteries is getting smaller and smaller. The inability to handle ashes and the high cost of handling ashes have become problems faced by most people. In addition, traditional funeral methods have caused great pollution to the environment, so this project will explore this issue. Through ecological burial, it can be alleviated to provide a sustainable coexistence space for the dead and the living, with minimal impact on the environment. This site has set up three different types of sites, healing, funeral and unnamed cemetery, which meet people's different emotional needs while meeting the original site functions.

WHY CERTE ECOLOGICAL BURIAL?

There are many disadvantages in traditional funeral, which bring about serious environmental pollution

Hong Kong's urban land area is small, with the increa sing demand for funeral, funeral land and urban land area between the conflict is growing.

03 WHEREABOUTS OF THE RACCOON DOG

Urban Rewilding and Wildlife Conservation Projects

Location: Shanghai, China

Type: Individual Work Area: 35ha

Instructor: Yuan Tian

E-mail: tianyuan@bjfu.edu.can

Project introduction

The development of urbanization has reduced the suitable living environment for raccoon dogs, forcing them to move to cities. However, the lights at night, the hard riverbanks, stray animals, etc., all pose a threat to the lives of raccoon dogs and cause conflicts between people and raccoon dogs. This project explores this issue, provides a habitat for raccoon dogs, reduces conflicts between people and raccoon dogs, and forms a symbiotic relationship between people and raccoon dogs. Taking the coexistence of humans and raccoon dogs as the starting point, three types of venues are selected as design objects: shopping malls, communities and river banks. This goal is achieved by setting up green spaces and facilities in different places.

04 PHOENIX HEAT ISLAND EFFECT

Landscape Structure Design

Location: Phoenix, USA

Type: Individual Work Area: 1.7 ha

Instructor: Ke Ding

E-mail: 9ear@sina.com

Project introduction

The region has a tropical desert climate. The hot climate leads to sparse vegetation and lack of shade. At the same time, the heat island effect causes pollutants to accumulate in the city and cannot be eliminated, exacerbating the rise in urban temperature. This project explores this issue. Taking the local parking lot as an example, a three-dimensional facility is built to provide shade for residents. The building shape forms air circulation and reduces the internal temperature. Plants are planted on the top of the facility, and building materials and grooves are used to store rainwater and automatically supply water to the plants, improving the local microclimate.

HEAT ISLAND EFFCT OF PHOENIX

SITE:Phoenix, Arizona, USA

ISSUE1:The Vegetation Coverage is Low ISSUE2:Add Heat to Outdoor Car Parks ISSUE3:High Summer Temperatures

SITE ANAILSIS

The vegetation coverage rate in Phoenix City is low, which reduces the regulation of vegetation on climate and weakens the Catharsis of airpollutants. Residents lack outdoor shade during summer, and their bodies are mostly exposed to sunlight, accelerating water evaporation. Phoenix is a subtropical desert climate, about 80 days a year in the temperature above40 degrees Celsius. It also increases the probability of illness and even death.

UTILIZATION OF MASKS

The epidemic and environmental pollution have made people's demand for masks higher and higher, and more and more discarded masks are produced.
