Quality and excellence are non-negotiable. At Zangersheide, we are convinced that true progress emerges when we continue to choose top level, unconditionally. This applies both to sport and breeding. Without compromise. The stallion collection at Zangersheide is constantly evolving. It is my passion to keep it up to date with the very best stallions the market has to offer, so that you, as a breeder, can always find the right stallion for every mare in our selection.

With Balou du Reventon Z (p. 12), Tobago Z (p. 52) and Akarad Hero Z (p. 62), we demonstrate our commitment to this principle. All three newcomers are stallions that have been on our radar for years and it brings us great joy to finally offer them to you. After his move to the USA, Balou du Reventon Z had not been available with fresh semen to European breeders for many years. Tobago Z retired last year from a remarkable sporting career in which he earned nearly €3,000,000 in prize money under Daniel Deusser! Both stallions show that their owners have full confidence in Studfarm Zangersheide and entrust their horses with a 5* home and a top-quality breeding career.

I am also particularly proud of the stallions who currently represent the stud’s colours at the highest level in sport, such as Dourkhan Hero Z (p. 26) and Untouched LB Z (p. 30). Both are exceptional athletes who also prove to be invaluable in breeding. This year, they are available only via frozen semen so they can fully focus on their sporting careers, but we certainly do not want to withhold them from you.

Alongside the new names and current top performers, it is, of course, a privilege to rely on an unrivalled group of leading sires who all competed in sport and pass on their qualities in an unmistakably consistent way. For example, Dominator Z (p. 18) and Aganix du Seigneur Z (p. 6) are available with fresh semen for the entire season. The breeding power of Aganix du Seigneur Z shows that the chosen path is the right one: absolute top sport without compromise. At the World Championships for Young Horses here in Lanaken, no fewer than five of his offspring qualified for the final, including the gold medal winner!

Although I know the stallions inside out and see them daily in the stables, browsing through this catalogue always fills me with gratitude. Not only is the number of 5* Grand Prix stallions unmatched, the rising talent also makes me truly excited. It is therefore with great pride that I present to you the Zangersheide Stallion Collection 2026. Aganix du Seigneur Z

The force behind champions!

Across the globe, top riders, breeders and analysts agree: we are witnessing one of the greatest sires in modern showjumping rise to the very top. Still relatively young as a sire, he already boasts more than 120 offspring competing at 1.45m to 1.60m, with fifteen of those performing at Grand Prix 1.60m level. His influence is evident in a formidable roster of Grand Prix winners such as Ines Joly’s AmbassadorZ, Agana van het Gerendal Z, Attoucha Hero Z, Ayade Hero Z and Maxwin Kinmar Agalux. Behind them, powerful younger generations are surging forward - among them VDL Mindset ES, Ribery and the fiercely competitive Rebelline de Kwakenbeek, who delivered multiple victories and podium finishes in 2025 with Daniel Bluman.

The Aganix effect came into full focus at the 2025 FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships in Lanaken, where he stood out as the most represented sire. In the seven-year-old final, five of his offspring ranked in the top thirteen. Augustus Z claimed the gold medal with Ireland’s Eoin Brennan, Aggie van de Start Z finished fourth, and Bjurfors Nikora, who topped the 2024 Aloga Auction at €1.9 million, was placed tenth.

Aganix du Seigneur Z now counts over seventy approved sons across major studbooks, including Zangersheide’s own Ambassador Z (p. 108), Allroad Z and Asgreen Z (p. 122), now joined by the 5* 1.60m Grand Prix stallion Akarad Hero Z (p. 62).

From Aachen to Prague, Shanghai to Omaha, Balou du Reventon Z has dazzled the crowds and conquered the sport’s toughest arenas. This charismatic bay stallion, famous for his huge canter and even bigger heart, has built an extraordinary reputation for his consistency delivering repeated victories in 5* Grand Prix and Nations Cups under world-class riders such as Darragh Kenny, Brian Moggre and Harry Charles.

By Cornet Obolensky out of the influential mare Georgia, Balou du Reventon Z is a brother to the popular stallion Chatinue and foundation sire Balou du Rouet. His sisters have also excelled in breeding, producing stars like Christian Kukuk’s Chageorge, reinforcing the strength of this exceptional family. Today, Balou du Reventon Z has 15 approved sons, including Crack Balou who shines at 1.60m level with Emanuele Gaudiano. Throughout the 2025 season, he continued securing multiple top placings in major Grands Prix’s. At just 9, he leapt into the limelight with a stellar performance and a 4th place finish in the CSI5* 1.60m Hermès Grand Prix in Paris, backed by strong placements in both the GCL and LGCT Grand Prix in Rome and a bronze medal in the FEI Zangersheide Sires of the World in Lanaken. Epleaser Z stands as one of the most influential sires of the modern era, with the highest percentage of 1.60 m offspring worldwide. A proven force in both elite sport and breeding, he partnered with Christian Ahlmann to claim major victories including the Grand Prix of Villach–Treffen and the Nations Cup of Aachen. Throughout his consistent career on the CSI5* stage, Epleaser Z recorded over 20 top placings at 1.60m level and retired with close to €1 million in prize money.

With Beezie Madden, he won the iconic $3 Million CP ‘International’ Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows in 2019, as well as the $133,700 Tourmaline Oil Cup. He recorded two top-ten finishes in the 1.70m CSIO5* Grand Prix of Aachen. For nearly a decade Tobago Z has been one of the most admired horses on the international circuit under Daniel Deusser, known for cat-like reflexes, speed across the ground and exceptional carefulness. They won team silver at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam, victorious in a string of 5* Grand Prix’s and World Cups, Rolex Grand Prix wins in Wellington and The Dutch Masters, the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix in Prague and a runner-up finish in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen. This consistency saw Tobago Z top the FEI WBFSH Breeders Ranking and crowned Zangersheide horse of the year in the Z-ranking 2022-2023, proving that heart and quality matter more than size.

He is sired by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve out of the 1.60m Mr Blue mare Whoopie C, dam of international performers including 1.60m Donatella C. As a sire he is quickly confirming his status. Already the sire of several approved stallions and his first generations include 1.60m performers Otello de Guldenboom with Daniel Deusser and Trixie Z with Emilie Conter, as well as 1.55m horses Toscane Z and Orak d’Hamwyck.

Stud service conditions & rates

Breeding Season 2026

1. Registration of mares

The mare to be inseminated must be registered with Studfarm Zangersheide. A one-time (free) registration can be completed by providing a clear copy of the pedigree document to Studfarm Zangersheide. Registration is not required for mares already registered with Studbook Zangersheide.

2. Breeding season

The breeding season runs from 16 February to 1 September 2026.

3a. Procedure for fresh semen

1. Semen from stallions stationed at Studfarm Zangersheide is available as fresh semen. Semen can be collected or shipped.

2. According to European regulations, semen may only be shipped to locations outside Belgium that are registered as an Equine Establishment in TRACES NT. Without a valid (one-time and free) registration, no health certificate can be issued. Breeders are advised to arrange this registration in time. Support with the application is available upon request.

3. It is not possible to order semen on two consecutive days for the same mare.

4. A maximum of three cycles of semen will be supplied per mare. If the mare is not pregnant after three cycles, another stallion must be selected without requiring a new down payment, provided the stallion is in the same fee category. In case the fee is higher, the surcharge must be paid. If a stallion in a lower category is chosen, no refund will be issued.

5. A dose of fresh semen for a next cycle can only be obtained once the purchase amount has been paid.

6. The mare owner must return the last insemination certificate and/or non-gestation statement within 90 days after the last insemination, stating whether the mare is pregnant or not. Nongestion statements can only be provided by veterinarians. If the breeder fails to report that the mare is not pregnant, the gestation charge will automatically be invoiced. This also applies to the “Breed now, pay in 2027” construction.

7. Payment of stud fees

Purchase/gestation construction:

The purchase fee is paid at the first insemination.

- The gestation charge is due if the mare is in foal 90 days after the last insemination.

The gestation charge = stud fee of the last chosen stallion.

“Breed now, pay in 2027”

Upon the first order, you will receive an invoice of €125 (excl. VAT) as a reservation fee. This amount will be deducted from the total stud fee in case of a living foal. The reservation charge is non-refundable in case of no living foal. The invoice for the remaining stud fee will be issued on the first day of the month in which the foal is expected and must be paid no later than 48 hours after the foal is born.

3b. Procedure for Frozen Semen

1. The stallions available with frozen semen, along with the corresponding fees, can be found on our website. If the desired stallion is not listed, please contact us, as stock may still be available.

2. Frozen semen is available only on a contractual basis. The frozen semen remains the property of Studfarm Zangersheide NV at all times.

3. A contract can be requested by phone at +32 89 73 00 30, via our website stallions. zangersheide.com, or by email at stallions@zangersheide.com.

4. Frozen semen is shipped per dose and the empty straws must be returned immediately after use.

5. The first dose will be made available once the signed contract is in possession of Studfarm Zangersheide NV and payment has been received.

6. The allocated doses must be used within the year of purchase and may only be used to inseminate the mare named in the contract.

7. If the mare is not pregnant, a non-gestation statement must be provided along with the empty straws before a new dose (maximum of 3) will be shipped.

8. Frozen semen may not be sold to third parties and may not be used for ICSI.

4. Breeding certificate

If the mare is pregnant, the mare owner may request a breeding certificate/birth notification after payment of the gestation charge. Foals registered with Studbook Zangersheide vzw do not require a stud service certificate.

5. ICSI

1. The stallions available for ICSI and their fees can be found on our website. If the desired stallion is not listed, please contact us, as stock may still be available.

2. ICSI sessions are only possible on a contractual basis. The frozen semen remains the property of Studfarm Zangersheide NV at all times and is stored at one of our stations.

3. A contract can be requested by phone at +32 89 73 00 30, via our website stallions. zangersheide.com, or by email at stallions@zangersheide.com.

4. ICSI may only be performed at one of the following certified facilities: UGent (Belgium), In Vitro Equinos LTDA (Brazil), Genetech EU GmbH (Germany), Avantea (Italy), Hurkmans ET (Netherlands), Equiception (Netherlands), Embryotools (Spain).

5. Permission to use frozen semen for one ICSI session with oocytes from one mare will be granted once the signed contract and payment for the session have been received.

6. No additional fees apply based on the number of embryos produced. If no embryos are produced, no compensation applies.

6. Embryo Transfer

If the mare owner intends to perform an embryo flushing, this must be reported with the first semen order. If no embryo(s) are found, semen may be ordered again (up to three cycles), provided a veterinary statement from the embryo center confirms a negative flush. For a fourth cycle, a new down payment has to be paid. If the embryo flush is positive, a new down payment will be charged for the next semen order for this mare.

If multiple embryos are flushed from a single insemination, the reservation/purchase fee will be invoiced afterwards.

For every successfully transferred embryo, the applicable fee will be charged. Depending on the stallion selected, this will either be the 90-day pregnancy surcharge or the live foal fee due the first day of the expected birth month. The breeding fee also applies to each frozen embryo.

Important: The mare owner must provide Studfarm Zangersheide with a signed and certified report from the veterinarian or embryo transfer center listing the number of flushes, the number of (successfully) implanted embryos and the number of frozen embryos per mare. If the embryo transfer is unsuccessful, this report counts as a non-gestation statement.

7. Comilfo Plus Z, Brunetti Z, Balou du Reventon Z and Dow Jones Z

Our stallions Comilfo Plus Z, Brunetti Z, Balou du Reventon Z and Dow Jones Z have tested positive for Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome (WFFS), a genetic defect from which they themselves experience no adverse effects and which can only be passed on to a small percentage of offspring, only when the mare is also a carrier. If you wish to inseminate your mare with semen from these stallions, we offer to test your mare for WFFS at our expense. This can be arranged with our staff. If you choose to breed without testing or after a positive result, you proceed entirely at your own risk.

8. Ordering procedure semen

Semen can be ordered by phone at +32 89 73 00 30 or through our website stallions.zangersheide. com.

Orders placed through the website are only final once confirmed by our office (by phone or email).

Dispatch of semen ordered from Studfarm Zangersheide takes place as follows:

On week/working days:

Belgium : orders placed before 09:00 will be delivered the same day.

Netherlands : orders placed before 09:00 will be delivered the same day.

Germany : orders placed before 09:00 will be delivered upon consultation.

France : via Zangersheide France: +33 231 48 44 55.

Orders may also be collected at Studfarm Zangersheide between 11:00 am and 17:00 pm.

Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

Semen orders are possible until 09:00 am. Please contact our office for delivery details.

On Saturdays ordered semen can be collected between 10:00–12:00.

On Sundays and public holidays, collection is only possible after consultation.

On Sundays, a limited semen supply may be available. Health certificates cannot be issued on Sundays; therefore, semen is only available within Belgium.

Packaging/containers

When fresh semen is collected/shipped, a suitable container will be provided. This container does not need to be returned.

Frozen semen is shipped in a container owned by Studfarm Zangersheide or in the breeder’s own container. Zangersheide containers must be returned within 7 calendar days at the mare owner’s expense. From the eight day a rental charge of €25 (excl. VAT) per day per container applies. This fee remains due even after returning the container. The return date is the day the container arrives at Zangersheide. Lost or damaged containers will be invoiced at €1,000 (excl. VAT).

9. Health certificates

For international shipments, Studfarm Zangersheide arranges the required health certificates. The costs will be invoiced to the mare owner.

10. Zootechnical certificate

A zootechnical certificate can be issued upon written request. This certificate confirms that the delivered semen complies with relevant zootechnical standards. We reserve the right to apply a reasonable preparation time.

11. Stud fees and other rates

Stud fees are listed in euros, excluding VAT. Shipping and health certificate costs are invoiced separately.

If you present your mare for insemination at Studfarm Zangersheide, a special rate applies (see the rate listed under the stallion). The mentioned amount is exclusive of veterinary and stabling costs. Please contact Equivet Equine Center (tel. +32 475 44 17 30) before bringing your mare to Studfarm Zangersheide.

Any attempted fraud by the mare owner results in a non-negotiable fine of €10,000 (excl. 21% VAT), in addition to the stud fee owed.

Studfarm Zangersheide reserves the right to amend its conditions and fees during the breeding season without prior notice. The current conditions are always published on the website. By ordering and receiving semen, the mare owner acknowledges and fully agrees to these terms, conditions, and fees.

12. Invoicing / Payment

Invoices must be paid within 30 days of the invoice date. Payments can also be made at Zangersheide in Lanaken during office hours via cash, credit card, or bank card. If the payment term is exceeded, reminder fees, penalty interest and possible collection costs, both judicial and extrajudicial will be charged.
