Because Breast Health

Can’t Wait Until October

Breast cancer doesn’t only happen in October—it impacts lives every day of the year.

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, and 1 in 43 will die from the disease. Recent data also show that breast cancer rates increased by about 1% per year between 2012 and 2021, with a sharper rise among women under the age of 50.

Although there is no guaranteed way to prevent breast cancer, there are important steps you can take to help reduce your risk and support early detection:

Maintain a healthy weight

Stay physically active

Women age 40 and older: Schedule an annual mammogram and physical exam

Women age 20 and older: Schedule an annual clinical breast exam and physical

Learn your family health history, including any history of breast cancer or genetic risk factors, which can be key to early diagnosis
