100 years of living, loving On April 27, Sunnyside Village residents Fred and Thelma Clark celebrated their 100th birthdays together. The Clarks were both born in Pennsylvania in 1918. Fred’s birthday is April 12 and Thelma’s is April 26. The two moved separately to Sunnyside in 1999 and married in 2005 after both of their first spouses died. Fred’s advice on living long and prosperous? “Don’t buy what you want, buy what you need,” he said.

Scavenging for poem To celebrate National Poetry Month, the Booker Middle School Dragonfly Poets took part in a scavenger hunt April 25, looking for banners featuring their poems around downtown. The display was made possible through a grant from Bookstore1Sarasota’s PoetryLife and a partnership with the Downtown Sarasota Alliance.
