Mountains of holiday cheer Hundreds of toys and dozens of gift cards were donated to a holiday toy drive to benefit the children of the 12th Judicial Circuit’s Guardian Ad Litem program. Donations, coordinated by the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office, totaled 1,365 toys and 85 gift cards valued at more than $3,700. The program aids 1,500 children in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect and appointed a guardian. The drive ran from Dec. 1-15.

Costumed weirdos to beach ratings, our website had it all. PAGE 18 TIE

Kaili and Nicholas Winn celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Pineapple Drop last year.

Don’t forget the Pineapple Drop Ring in the New Year at Sarasota’s Pineapple Drop celebration at Main Street and Lemon Avenue on New Year’s Eve. Leading up to the climactic event, there are amusement rides, food and beer concessions and live music. After 2019 rolls in, fireworks will boom over the bay.
