Pinterest users love Siesta Beach Dr. Beach might not think so, but users of Pinterest still say Siesta Beach is one of the coolest places to be. The social media site listed Siesta Beach among its Top 20 trending beaches in the U.S. The network compiled the list based on posts and photos made from locations around the nation. Nokomis Beach also made the list as did the Panhandle’s Santa Rosa Beach. Dr. Beach, which ranked Siesta No. 1 in 2017’s Top 10, didn’t list the popular beach in 2018.

Sarasota griller gets rare chance Miguel Lopez, a cook at LongHorn Steakhouse at 5440 Fruitville Road, was among 57 “grill masters” to advance from a field of 5,000 entrants in his company’s Steak Master Series. The next step in the competition takes place later this month in Orlando when Lopez and 56 other regional qualifiers contend for seven semifinal spots. At steak, er, stake: a $200,000 purse of cash and prizes.
