SPD welcomes new police dog K-9 Bobbi is the newest member of the Sarasota Police Department thanks to a donation from Boar’s Head Brand. Bobbi is a 2-yearold German shepherd from Slovakia trained in finding explosive materials and devices. In a statement, Bobbi’s handler, Adam Arena, described Bobbi as “a loving dog with a secondto-none high-energy drive.” The Boar’s Head Brand donation made it possible to modify a patrol car for Bobbi, train her handler and purchase supplies. “We’re honored to be able to sponsor K-9 Bobbi and look forward to the tremendous service she will provide Sarasota,” Boar’s Head Brand Senior Director of Marketing Elizabeth Ward said in a statement.

Scout’s honor Devin Beede’s work to add benches to Circus Trail Nature Park didn’t just help him attain the rank of Eagle Scout — it’s officially made him a “favored citizen of our community.” The City Commission commended Beede, a senior at Sarasota High School, at a March 5 meeting. Last year, Beede led a project to construct and install benches at the park at the corner of Fruitville and Beneva roads.
