Remembering victims of 9/11 On the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee held a ceremony to honor the victims and heroes of the attacks. Sarasota Military Academy students performed a flag-passing ritual to symbolize the nation’s response to the terrorist attack, and David Kotok, a local survivor, gave the keynote address. “It’s important to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11, as well as the courageous efforts of our first responders and military,” said Carlos Moreira, USFSM’s veteran services administrator. “Our nation owes them a debt of gratitude.”
