The Baltimore Orioles have scheduled 16 home games.

Spring tickets on sale soon It might not look or feel much like baseball season right now, but it won’t be long until the Baltimore Orioles arrive in Sarasota for spring training. The ballclub announced recently that single-game tickets for games at Ed Smith Stadium will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. The Orioles face 10 different teams in the 16-game home schedule, which opens Feb. 23 with a game against Tampa Bay. For information on purchases or ticket packages, visit orioles.com/spring or call 893-6300.

Vitales help kids enjoy Christmas For the children at Boys and Girls Club, Santa Claus is a local. ESPN television sports analyst Dick Vitale and wife, Lorraine, helped deck the Lee Wetherington Boys and Girls Club in holiday cheer on Dec. 21 during the club’s annual holiday party. The Vitales donated $10,000 to help purchase toys for 340 club participants. Children enjoyed a turkey dinner, gifts and holiday activities.

Expect great things from this group of athletes. File photos
