After two months of virtual learning, the Temple EmanuEl Religious School wanted to celebrate the end of the year three-dimensionally. So parents and children caravanned through the McIntosh Road school parking lot May 17 as a way to thank teachers and staff. Temple Emanu-El Senior Rabbi Brenner Glickman, Associate Rabbi Michael Shefrin, Director of Education Sabrina Silverberg and the TEERS teachers and teen assistants greeted students and families.

Math team keeps on truckin’
A team of five 11th and 12th graders from Pine View School in Osprey collected the top prize of $20,000 in college scholarships as winners of this year’s MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge, a competition that focuses on the role of math in everyday life. Kristoffer Selberg, Michael Gutierrez, Pragnya Govindu, Nicholas Butakow and Christiana Guan were the winning team, coached by Mark Mattia. Their paper focused on creating a predictive model on how electric trucks would replace traditional diesel and gas powered trucks. A second team from Pine View placed in the top six.
