Where: Manatee Performing Arts Center

Info: ManateePerformingArtsCenter.com
In the early 1960s, Cuban parents sent more than 14,000 unaccompanied children to the U.S. in the hopes their offspring would escape indoctrination by Fidel Castro’s new government. Leymis Bolaños Wilmott’s parents were part of the exodus known as Operación Pedro Pan. In “Cuban Project: Historias,” Bolaños Wilmott explores the history and experiences of her family and others caught up in this unprecedented wave of immigration.

Performing Arts Hall
Tickets: $122-$147
Info: VanWezel.org
“Oh, What a Night” it promises to be at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall when the real-life “Jersey Boys” take the stage. The doo-wop band now known as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons became famous in the early 1960s, inspiring a generation to sing a capella on street corners. Those too young to remember hits such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man” learned of their rags-to-riches story thanks to the touring show of “Jersey Boys” earlier in this century.
‘PICKLEBALL’
When: 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 through Nov. 19
Where: Pinkerton Theatre, Venice
Tickets: $35
Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that pickleball is the latest fitness sensation. Even if you don’t want to play, you can find out what the hubbub is all about when Jeff Daniels’ zany comedy comes to the Pinkerton Theater this fall. That’s where the Venice Theatre has been calling home since Hurricane Ian.
The Sarasota Orchestra’s 75th anniversary season includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3. Known as “Eroica,” it is considered to be one of the most important compositions ever written. Originally inspired by Napoleon Bonaparte, Beethoven ultimately paid tribute to the ideal of the hero, not an individual.
