Depot welcomes Bahamian cats
Fresh off a plane from the Bahamas, 10 felines are now looking for new homes. Cat Depot, a Sarasotabased animal rescue group, partnered with the Florida Association of Animal Welfare Organization to provide help to the Bahamas Humane Society after Hurricane Dorian. The cats will be available for adoption after a twoweek quarantine and range in age from 6 months to 1 1/2 years. For information, go to CatDepot.org or Cat Depot’s Facebook page at facebook. com/catdepot.
Citrus cityscape
Orange, Lime, Cocoanut. Sarasota streets often resemble the produce aisle more than a cityscape. And now another ingredient to the municipal fruit salad has arrived: the image of a giant lemon crafted of yellow bricks in the pavement of Lemon Avenue and State Street, part of the city’s Lemon Avenue Streetscape project. The city says the citrusy circle in the street is designed to create an inviting, friendly experience for downtown residents, visitors and business people.
