Center welcomes new teammate
There’s a new chief in town — chief development officer, that is. Ruth Frazier was appointed to the position for the Friendship Center, a nonprofit that serves adults over 50 in southwest Florida. She will oversee fundraising events, planned giving, capital or endowment campaigns, special fundraising initiatives, development projects and the cultivation, management and stewardship of donors and volunteers.
Find sets off search for owner
On a quest to find his friend’s wedding band on Siesta Beach, Shawn Rauch instead found a necklace engraved with “Mom” and filled with ashes on May 26. Rauch, a metal detector enthusiast, said that when he finds something valuable, his first instinct is to track down the owner. Rauch said many people tried to connect him with a woman in Philadelphia who lost a similar necklace, but she isn’t the owner. “One guy claimed it was his, but after talking to him he was very obviously not the owner,” he said. Rauch said the best way to contact him is at facebook. com/shawn.rauch.31.
