WHY THESE ISSUES AND PEOPLE MATTER IN THE EAST COUNTY: Read profiles on pages 2A through 19A + Girl Scout troop delivers tasty treats Girl Scout Brownie Troop 764 cooked up a special batch of treats for the area’s homeless pets recently. Girls in the troop donated dog treats they made from scratch as well as handmade catnip toys to the Lakewood Ranch Humane Society, which the organization eagerly distributed the goodies to the animals under its care.

+ Ranch to offer resident orientation Attention new Lakewood Ranch residents. If you’re confused by the acronyms CDD, IDA and HOA, this is the presentation for you. Lakewood Ranch Town Hall will conduct a resident orientation from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 11, at Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. The informational program is designed to educate residents regarding the roles and responsibilities of Lakewood Ranch Town Hall to include the Inter-District Authority, the Community Development Districts and the homeowners associations. Residents will learn about their local governmental structure and how each of these agencies works together.
