Cheers to 70
Longboaters Julian and Barbara Hansen are celebrating 70 years of marriage. One thing that has helped them make it this far? “They really respect each other,” daughter Jane Hansen said. The couple met in high school and married in September 1949 after he became a Navy aviator and served from 1945-1949 while she attended Carlton College. Since first coming to Longboat Key in 1978, they have been active. She said one or the other has served as president of the Sands Point community since 1980.

Look out below Starbucks has the tiniest neighbors ever. Stoop down to see a pair of “fairy doors” at 443 ½ St. Armands Circle, located on the tree trunk and the curb. It’s unclear how they got there, but barista Rachab VanVereeswyk came in one morning to find that the new neighbors had moved in overnight.
