Bolts from the blue When your hockey team is in the Stanley Cup Finals, every day feels like Christmas. And at Lazy Lobster, Christmas is here for Tampa Bay Lightning fans. The entrance to the restaurant, owned by Lightning fan Michael Garey, is festooned in blue and white with team gear, inflatable noisemakers, hockey sticks to rally towels and more. Game 3 is at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 with Dallas and Tampa Bay owning a victory in the best-ofseven series.
Chief gets an award Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming is retiring, but not without an award. On Tuesday, the Rotary Club of Longboat Key honored Cumming with a Paul Harris Fellow award, which is named for the club founder and given to those who illustrate the club’s mission. “He embodies service above self,” Rotarian Nancy Rozance said. In a nod to COVID-19 concerns, Rozance delivered a wrapped pin and certificate to the police station with instructions to Cumming not to open it until Sept. 22.
