Name a turtle with Mote
File photo
Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium has tagged seven green turtles this season with satellites — in an annual record of tagged nesting green turtles — and is tracking their movements. All but one of them are named (Cheeseball, Thalia, June, Amelia, Irene and Freda), and it’s up to a lucky member of the public to bestow a name upon the seventh. You have until Aug. 9 to throw your name in the ring, according to Mote’s website. Donate via mote.org/ NameMe and enter “TURTLE” in the comments box. If you can’t make a donation, send an email to info@ mote.org with the subject “Turtle Tag” and your name, address and phone in the email.

“Love on the Links,” from local author Meg West, is now available as an e-book on Amazon for $1.99. It’s the final book in her trilogy of romances set on the west coast of Florida, though all three feature different characters. This latest takes place at the fictional Pelican Isle Resort, where a young woman gets a crash course in golf to fit in with her fiance’s link-loving family.
