Runaway Ruben
Twitter is the new lost-dog poster. The town’s official social media account tweeted Aug. 16 about Ruben the Chihuahua, who ran away from his home Thursday night during one of the many recent storms. Thanks to the eagle-eyed residents who helped bring him home, Ruben was safe at home before more than 12 hours passed, hopefully decompressing after his adventure. The town let its social media followers know when the found fellow was safe, quickly racking up “likes” on the post. Think of it as a heart-shaped sticker on the lost-dog poster of the internet age.
What’s up underground? Keeping track of what’s coming up underground is now a click away. The town last week launched LBKUtilityUndergrounding.com for updates, questions and details on the two-plus year project to bury the town’s overhead utility cables. The site is managed by The Valerin Group, a Tampa marketing company. Although not every day of progress will be noted, Valerin said the site will be updated frequently.
