Catch of the day
It’s snook season, and Keith Linneman cashed in early as he reeled in the end of May. On May 31, Bob Dreyfuss watched Linneman reel in a large snook from the beach and snapped a photo before the big guy was sent back before it could be weighed. Snook can be elusive, but the warm summer waters draw them closer to shore. Luckily for Linneman, Longboat’s lapping waters help lure in the fish.

Church services resume
Drive-up food drive Stay safe, and lend a helping hand with Christ Church’s drive-up food drive throughout the day Wednesday. The church is collecting food and household items for Our Daily Bread in Bradenton, which feeds meals and stocks a food pantry that has seen a 300% increase in demand for family services and food since the pandemic began. This will be Christ Church’s third such food drive since March. Stop by 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive, and bring your canned goods, jelly, bread, peanut butter, diapers and other nonperishable food items.
