On the run for Florida Maria Georgiev is preparing for the U.S. Senior Games, planned for mid-June in Albuquerque, N.M. Georgiev, an 84-year-old resident of L’Ambiance, qualified for the national games in the 5K road race event. While competing in the state Senior Games in Clearwater in December, she ran the course in 34 minutes, 21 seconds in the age division for 80-yearolds. She finished 15 minutes in front of the next finisher. A total of about 13,000 athletes are expected to compete in the 11-day event. About 700 of those athletes are from Florida.
