Statues get a little holiday cheer.
Dreaming of a bright Christmas It’s not just a “filament” of your imagination. Holiday decorations and lights are coming to St. Armands Circle slowly but surely. Wood infrastructure to hold up the biggest and most twinkly creations appear more and more by the day, while the statues are being framed by red and gold bows just in time for Florida’s chillier weather to creep in. The holiday cheer will hit a peak from 6-9 p.m. Dec. 6, when Holiday Night on St. Armands lights up the Circle with a tree lighting and photos with Santa.

Guests of honor at dinner
Sorry, Charlie
If you want to see tuna while you’re fishing on the beach, it will usually only be in your sandwich. Tuna typically favor deeper waters off the coast, so those who fish for tuna typically do it from a boat, miles from land. However, Larry Naddeo, a Lakewood Ranch resident, hooked a tuna from the beach Nov. 12 — no boat needed. He pulled in the 10-pound “false albacore” from a Longboat Key beach. Steve Herich of Beach Fishing Adventures, who was there when Naddeo caught the tuna, said changing temperatures will yield changing fish in the waters.
