Longboater celebrates 100th Longboater Mort Hansen celebrated his 100th birthday with his immediate family last weekend. Hansen was a fixture in daughter Ann Kelmenson’s Buttonwood Cove neighborhood until recently, she said, strolling about with his walker. He was joined by Eric, Sophie, Monique and Eddie Kelmenson; Lotte Jordan; Josh, Coppen and Macio Winer; and Carolynn Patch for lunch Nov. 9 to celebrate.

The Longboat Key Turtle Watch, along with their Anna Maria counterpart and artisan friends of late Longboater Lucinda Hathaway, passed out door hangers at the Sarasota Farmers Market in memory of their longtime member. Hathaway was an artist, educator and avid turtle protector. Her artisan friends painted 20 door hangers reminding folks to turn out the lights and protect sea turtles and joined the Turtle Watch to pass them out to people at the Farmers Market and keep Hathaway’s legacy alive.
