Members of the Longboat Key Fire Association

Fire Association tops nice list The Longboat Key Fire Association topped Santa’s nice list in 2017. Each year, the association adopts a family and provides them with food and gifts. In 2017, the fire squad adopted Oak Park School. Some of the association members visited the school and brought a fire truck with to show the students. Each child also got to meet fireman Santa Claus and his elves, who gave each student a stuffed bear.

You probably know her best from her quarter-century serving Longboat Key residents and visitors in the Publix bakery, but Vicki Workman (Miss Vicki to her friends) is nearly as popular at Christ Church for her service. That, though, is coming to an end. And her fellow congregants just wanted to say thank you for her longtime help, though she’ll still attend church there. Last Sunday, the church held a celebration of appreciation for the woman who “cheerfully and faithfully served the refreshments at Christ Church following our worship services” for years, wrote Vivian Chester. Cake was served and the honored guest went home with a bouquet of flowers.
