Positive strokes As the Manatee County Youth Rowing Association opens registration and readies for the start of its fall season Aug. 5 at Fort Hamer Park, River Club resident and rower John Young and his four siblings — Bill Young, Scott Young, Joanna Lazarus and Amy Dubois — are making a difference. In celebration of the life of their late father, Warren Young, they donated a single-person shell for the program. Warren Young was a coxswain while attending Boston University in 1948. “My dad had wanted to donate to rowing,” said John Young (above with Joanna Lazarus). “We thought this would be a great opportunity for us to donate to this organization that does a phenomenal job with the kids.” The Resolute single sculling shell was christened “Warren ‘Red’ Young Class of ’48.”

The survey says Lakewood Ranch Town Hall Executive Director Anne Ross (above) wants to know: How is Town Hall doing? Ross seeks comments, either complimentary or suggestions about improvements, from residents of the Greenbrook, Summerfield, Riverwalk, Edgewater and Country Club communities it serves. Residents can provide feedback on Town Hall or on the Operations Department. To take the survey, visit lakewoodranchgov.org.
