‘Hey Bud... nice horses’ The Budweiser Clydesdales are scheduled to be in town, so the Sarasota Polo Club decided to use the opportunity to raise funds for the Sunshine Kids nonprofit. From 5-7 p.m., March 21, the polo club will host Meet the Budweiser Clydesdales, which will allow anyone who attends to get up close with the famous horses. A ticket of $25 for adults and $5 for children will include a picnic-type dinner with hot dogs and hamburgers, and the Clydesdale experience. For information, call Ron Trytek at 704-8379.

Another successful chapter The Rotary Club of Lakewood Ranch’s Books for Kids Luncheon at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club was largely a way for the organization to express its gratitude to the program’s volunteers, according to program director Ted Lindenberg. The luncheon, on March 7, celebrated the more than 90 volunteers and the multiple school administrators who make the program possible, including Sarasota County Schools Superintendent Todd Bowden and Manatee County Schools Superintendent Cynthia Saunders (above). The superintendents were recognized by Books for Kids for their involvement.
