If you are interested in playing or learning to play lawn bowls, social bowls are played every Tuesday and Saturday afternoon at the Cooroy Community Bowls Club located at the Saw & Mill Restaurant, 5 Opal Street, Cooroy. There is no need to book, simply turn up at 12 noon. For further information contact the Club President, Maureen, on 0419 588 661.

COOROY TENNIS CLUB GOES ONLINE
COOROY Tennis has now joined a number of other tennis clubs across Australia with the introduction of Tennis Australia’s ‘Book- A-Court’ program.
Book-A-Court allows tennis players access to court hire through an online booking and payment system via the Clubspark website.
The four hardcourts in Cooroy may now be booked for casual play by community members, in addition to club members, through the simple online system. Once a booking is made, a pin code is provided, allowing access to the courts through an electronic gate.
Previously, casual players needed to contact the club secretary, receive a code, unlock a secured cabinet, then use and later return a court key, as well as manually record the booking.
Club president, Ian Garvey, anticipates much greater court usage following the introduction of Book-A-Court. “The system is much simpler to navigate, and coincides with a real lift in interest in tennis across the country. Flexibility for guests and club members is the key,” Ian said.
Shortly, evening bookings will incorporate an automated lighting link, which will enable extended court use for players.
The new system was funded through grants from the State Government and Noosa Shire Council, together with club contributions.

Kieran Whitehead will headline the card when he challenges Flyn Makenym from the Gold Coast for the vacant Qld Super Middleweight Title.
“We have just finished a 10 week grueling preparation camp for this fight. Kieran is in the best shape of his life right now and is more than ready to go. Flyn is one tough cookie and cannot be underestimated. We are prepared for a tough fight,” Coach Mark Evans said.
Also on the card is amateur superstar Bryce Hegarty making his professional debut. After two years out of the

“They have pushed each other to the limit in sparring and in training generally. The hard work will pay off for them both,” Evans said.
Also on is the NQ Games in Townsville. Impact amateur boxers Paige Robinson, Keana Welsh, Cohen Robinson and Carson Lawrence will take on the best boxers from North Queensland in this two day event. “These kids have also trained the house down in preparation for this event.
“I could not be any prouder of how these boxers have trained lately. The gym is going strong and its great to see everyone in the gym helping those that have fights coming up,” Evans said.
