For more than 100 years, Yosemite Conservancy has been supporting the conservation of Yosemite’s natural resources and helping people develop deep ties to the park.

Thanks to generous donors, in recent years, we have provided more than $180 million in grants to Yosemite for more than 950 projects. It also helps secure matching funds for major projects and provides in-kind donations of staffing, services, and park-based programming.

In 2026, the Conservancy is committing $19 million in total support and funding around 60 grants to the National Park Service for projects in the park.

SCIENCE & NATURE

Yosemite Wildlife

The Wonder of Animal Life in California’s Sierra Nevada

The first comprehensive book in more than a century dedicated entirely to Yosemite’s remarkable wild animal world.

Countless books have been written about Yosemite National Park’s renowned scenery, yet as incredible as it is to us, Half Dome is also someone’s home. Social media is flooded with people all over the world sharing their excitement about the antics of the park’s distinctive residents: black bears causing traffic in “bear jams,” mule deer grazing in Ahwahnee Meadow, and coyotes sauntering in the shadow of El Capitan. Yosemite Wildlife goes beyond the field guides and offers extensive portraits of the park’s creatures—a remarkable new publication sure to be welcomed by the more than 4 million annual park visitors and anyone interested in the Sierra Nevada.

Readers will discover:

• 150+ species, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects

• 300+ photographs and archival images

• Commonly and rarely seen animals

• Rewilding success stories

• Profiles of the park scientists and others who protect wildlife

Yosemite is one of America’s most precious resources. Yosemite Wildlife does this distinction proud, showcasing the creatures of the park that are as captivating as the spray of Yosemite Falls, the dizzying heights of Glacier Point, or the iconic Half Dome.

CHILDREN’S

Forest en Familia El Bosque en Familia

A Latino family spends a wonderful day outdoors in this warm, dual-language (English and Spanish) picture book about the joys to be found in nature by award-winning author, Cynthia Harmony.

Emilia and her family are gearing up for their first forest en familia day in a big, beautiful national park! Emilia thinks her little brother, Nico, will fit right into the wild, but will she?

With Abue Tita’s reminder to keep her ears, eyes, and heart open to surprises, Emilia finds that nature is a perfect fit.

Packing treats, driving to the park, meeting a friendly ranger at the gate, hiking a trail, and picnicking under a welcoming tree—Emilia’s day is full and so is her heart.

This picture book is perfect for getting ready for a day outside with young children or reading afterward to relive all those good memories. A page at the back of the book includes a glossary, wild creatures to spot in the pictures, and a note about having a safe, marvelous experience while leaving no trace.

All are welcome to visit, enjoy, and cherish our public lands.

HISTORY

Wahhoga Village Then and Now

Tradition, Education, and Healing in Yosemite Valley

Wahhoga Committee of the American Indian Council of Mariposa County Inc./Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation

Since time immemorial, Indigenous people lived in the land now called Yosemite National Park. This brief volume tells of the peoples’ unbroken connection to their homeland, relating a history not only of injustice and injury, but also one of resiliency and resolve.

Through the stories and photos in this booklet, readers will discover:

• an introduction to culturally diverse peoples in times of change

• never-before-published memories of growing up in twentiethcentury Yosemite Valley as shared by Elders

• the local impacts of the Termination Era and the establishment of national parks

• and the importance of the Indian Cultural Center

Proceeds from the sale of this booklet directly support ongoing programs, the building of structures, and long-term operations of Wahhoga Village.
