ABOUT THE YMCA

Founded in 1885, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas serves thousands of men, women and children each year, regardless of age, income or background. Anchored in communities across North Texas, the Dallas Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change. The Y ensures all people have equitable access to the essentials needed to become thriving members of the community. Daily, the Y bridges and fills individual and community needs as a catalyst for impactful change. The YMCA makes accessible the support and opportunities that empower

people and communities to learn, grow and thrive, with three areas of impact: Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Dallas Y is a volunteer-led organization driven by members, volunteers, staff and the community.

Driven by its founding mission, the Y, nationally has served as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community for more than 175 years. The Y empowers everyone, no matter who they are or where they’re from, by ensuring access to resources, relationships and opportunities for all to learn, grow and thrive. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and generations, the Y’s goal is to improve overall health and well-being, ignite youth empowerment and demonstrate the importance of connections in and across 10,000 communities nationwide.

THEN. NOW. NEXT!

ABOUT THE YMCA OF METROPOLITAN DALLAS FOUNDATION

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation enables the Y to remain sustainable as the Y serves children and families in each of the local branch communities. In 1996, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation was chartered as a Texas nonprofit corporation to manage the investment and distribution of the endowment of the Y.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation exists to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

The Foundation’s financial health remains strong. As of the close of 2025, the corpus of the Foundation was at more than $43 million. In addition, the Foundation has received more than $12 million in documented planned giving intentions from individuals who have included the Y in their estate plans.

The Foundation’s impact extends beyond financial support. Contributions help create lasting legacies through initiatives and programs like The Ashford Rise School of Dallas, Youth & Government, college scholarships, and Camp Grady Spruce — programs designed to equip individuals and families with the tools to thrive.
