When Pam tells her YMCA story, she begins with a simple realization: time has moved faster than she expected. What started as a membership years ago has become a central part of her daily life. After retiring, Pam set out to find a community to build strength, improve balance, and stay connected. She found exactly that at the YMCA. Close to home and easy to reach the Fercho YMCA is just a short summer walk and it offered not only convenience, but a sense of belonging that kept Pam coming back. Taking the Guesswork Out The EGYM machines have transformed the way Pam approaches her workouts, removing the guesswork and replacing it with clear, guided progress. “You no longer need to remember how much to lift or how many reps,” she says. “It’s all there for you.” Paired with the app, the system offers instant feedback after each session to quickly view week-over-week gains, a visual reminder of how far she’s come. As a dedicated member, she shows up four or five times a week, building strength and improving her overall fitness with each visit. Clear goals, regular progress tracking, and the ability to build on past achievements keep her focused, motivated, and consistent. With the recent installation of EGYM at the Fergus Falls branch, even more members now have access to this intuitive, results-driven technology, making it easier than ever to stay on track and see real progress.

We will discuss “The Life We Bury” by Allen Eskens. All are welcome, even if you haven't finished the book. June’s Books is “Faith Bass Darling’s Last Garage Sale by Lynda Rutledge.

Finding Her Balance (Literally) As Pam’s strength grew in the fitness center, Pam’s focus naturally shifted to another essential piece of her health: balance. It wasn’t just about building muscle anymore; it was about moving confidently and safely in everyday life. After a physical therapist’s assessment highlighted areas to improve, she started spending more time in Group Fitness classes such as SilverSneakers. The impact was almost immediate. Simple but intentional exercises such as standing on one foot and practicing hand-eye coordination while balancing. With each session, her stability improved. A Little Advice from Pam When asked what advice she’d give YMCA members, Pam keeps it simple: “Try different things and give them more than one chance.” She started with SilverSneakers and gradually branched out to EGYM, FOREVERWELL social clubs, and more as her confidence grew. The FOREVERWELL book club, in particular, has become a favorite, offering lively discussions and

ahead. The strength and balance developed through a consistent routine has made it easier to stay active and fully enjoy those experiences. This journey reflects a strong commitment to staying engaged, trying new things, and building a lifestyle centered on health, connection, and continued growth within the YMCA community.
