All passenger first and last names, and all dates of birth, are required at the time of booking. Certain train providers will require passport information.

Absolutely. We can add hotel nights to give you extra time to explore your destination, or add in additional destinations to help you discover new ones! We can also add transfers for ultimate ease and convenience and have an extensive range of sightseeing options so you can make the most of your trip. CAN YOU RECOMMEND THE MOST SCENIC ROUTE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION?

We’re always advocates of taking the scenic route! With so much to see from the train windows on all our rail holidays, you’re in for a treat. If there’s a different route you could take for some extra special scenery, we’ll be excited to let you know!

CAN I TAKE A RAIL HOLIDAY THAT YOU OFFER IN REVERSE?

CAN I UPGRADE TO FIRST-CLASS RAIL ON SOME OR EVEN ALL OF MY TRAIN JOURNEYS?

You certainly can. We know that many of our customers like to upgrade some or all of their train journeys to first-class. Upgrading will give you a larger seat, more legroom and even a meal and drinks on certain routes. To find out more, please speak with one of our Rail Experts who will tell you the advantages of first class on your specific route.

WHERE ARE YOUR HOTELS LOCATED?

Our hotels are centrally located within each city we offer. Most are within a short distance of local sights and/or your railway stations.

HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

In general, each passenger can take two items of luggage plus one personal item. There are no weight restrictions - just remember you’ll need to carry everything!

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS?

After we receive full payment, travel documents will be sent to you approximately 21 days prior to your departure.

CAN I ADD ON ADDITIONAL SIGHTSEEING OR ADDITIONAL HOTEL NIGHTS?

Yes, you can add additional sightseeing activities and/or hotel nights to most existing rail holiday packages we offer. When you speak with a Rail Expert, request an explanation of the upgrade options to your holiday package as you wish. Additional charges may apply.

AM I ABLE TO TRAVEL ON MY CHOICE OF DATES?

There are no set departure dates with our holidays, with the exception of private train journeys such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Most trains will run every day, which means our holidays do too!

CAN I CHOOSE MY TRAIN TIMES?

Our packages don’t have set departure times, and if there is a train running when there are multiple trains a day, your Rail Expert will be able to talk you through the different departures. If there’s a particularly convenient time or a departure that will ensure you catch the best scenery, we’ll be sure to recommend it.

HOW LONG BEFORE THE TRAIN DEPARTS SHOULD I BE AT THE STATION?

With the exception of Eurostar, which has a 45-minute check-in time, there is no official checkin required for train journeys in Europe or North America. Of course, we always recommend arriving at the station in plenty of time.

Welcome to Zurich, Switzerland’s most cosmopolitan and elegant city, situated on the banks of the River Limmat. After checking into your hotel, spend the evening by the lake in the old town district of Niederdorf, famous for its bars, restaurants, lounges, and boutique shops.

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN MILAN

Welcome to Milan! Make your way to your hotel, and once checked in take a stroll around the city where you will find a great selection of local restaurants for dinner.

DAY 2: MILAN

Following breakfast, get ready to explore more of the city on your walking tour! Make the most of the city by learning about its greatest artistic achievements. See the Duomo’s stunning exterior, visit the world-famous Leonardo’s Last Supper, and explore the Sforza Castle gardens. DAY 3: MILAN TO ST. MORITZ VIA THE BERNINA EXPRESS

After breakfast, head to Milan Centrale for your journey to Tirano and board the legendary Bernina Express. Travel through the scenic Poschiavo Valley, past glaciers, alpine peaks, and the iconic Brusio Viaduct. Upon arrival in St. Moritz, check into your hotel and enjoy a stroll through the charming town center.

DAY 4: ST. MORITZ

Take a relaxing stroll around the lake and enjoy the chic town itself, the first real alpine holiday destination for the international jet set. St. Moritz is said to enjoy some of the freshest air in Europe and is the official home of Alpine sports. At night, enjoy some of the classic glitz and glamour of the St. Moritz Casino.

DAY 5: THE GLACIER EXPRESS FROM ST. MORITZ TO ZERMATT

Experience one of the world’s greatest train journeys today, onboard the Glacier Express. Cross the iconic Landwasser viaduct, as well as many other dramatic bridges and the leisurely speed of around 25mph and even treat yourself to lunch onboard together with a glass of Swiss white wine. the panoramic windows onboard mean you won’t miss a minute of the amazing scenery. On arrival in Zermatt make your way to your hotel for a twonight stay.

DAY 6: GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP FROM ZERMATT

Today enjoy a ride on the highest open-air railway in Europe, the Gornergrat rack railway. The 30min ride to the summit is spectacular thanks to the constant views of the Matterhorn Mountain, but also the fragrant pine forest it passes through as well as its steep gradient. At the top, some 3000m above sea level, the views are breath-taking. Enjoy a short hike, some lunch, or even a virtual flight over the surrounding mountains at the Zooom Experience.

DAY 7: ZERMATT TO ZURICH

At a time of your choosing, make your way to the station for a train north to Zurich. Upon arrival, make your way to your hotel, and once checked in take a stroll around the city’s beautiful Old Town where you will find a great selection of local restaurants for dinner.

DAY 8: ZURICH

Following breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of Zurich with an expert guide to introduce you to the city and the old town. Explore the city by bus to get an overview of the various districts. DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN SWITZERLAND

Welcome to Switzerland! Upon your arrival in Zurich, you will embark on a scenic train journey to Zermatt via Visp. The train ride itself is a treat, offering stunning views of the Swiss countryside. Once in Zermatt, you will head to your hotel for a two-night stay. Zermatt, nestled at the foot of the Matterhorn, is a car-free zone, offering clean mountain air and peaceful tranquility. Spend the rest of your day exploring this charming town at your leisure.

DAY 2: GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP

Today, you will take a ride up to 3090m above sea level on the historic Gornergrat cog railway. As the train climbs over bridges and through a fragrant forest of fir trees, passengers are awarded a spectacular view of the iconic Matterhorn mountain. At the top, there are some gentle walking trails where you might catch a glimpse of a wild Chamois or Marmot. When you are ready, take the train back down the mountain and enjoy dinner in one of Zermatt’s great local restaurants.

DAY 3: THE GLACIER EXPRESS

After breakfast at your hotel, make your way to the station for a journey aboard the slowest express train in the world, the Glacier Express. This train takes you over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels. The views from the panoramic windows as you pass mountain peaks, deep gorges, and idyllic mountain villages are often breathtaking. The eight hours onboard will fly by before you pull into St. Moritz for a two-night stay.

DAY 4: ST. MORITZ

From May – October your included Engadin card can be used for the funicular and cable-car ride to the vantage point of Piz Nair and some spectacular views across the Engadin valley. If you would prefer something a little more relaxed, take a scenic stroll around the lake and enjoy the fresh alpine air.

DAY 5: THE BERNINA EXPRESS

Climb aboard the famous Bernina Express train from St. Moritz through the Swiss Alps as it makes its way to Tirano. From Tirano, catch a local train to Milan, then a high-speed train to magical Venice. Along the way, you will experience why this journey is loved by so many travellers.

DAY 6: VENICE

Discover the rich history of Venice this morning with a skip-the-line tour of the Doges Palace and beautiful Golden Basilica. In the afternoon perhaps watch the world go by on St Mark’s Square or treat yourself to a drink in Harry’s Bar – the home of the Bellini.

DAY 7: VENICE

DAY 8: THE VENICE SIMPLON-ORIENTEXPRESS

DAY 9: LONDON

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN ZURICH

Welcome to Switzerland! On arrival at the airport take the short train ride to Zurich and check-in at your hotel for a one-night stay. The rest of the day is yours to acclimatise, be it a wander in the old town, visiting the world famous Kunsthaus, or discovering the world of Swiss chocolate at the Lindt, Home of Chocolate.

DAY 2: ZURICH TO ZERMATT

Set off at a time of your choosing with your Swiss Pass in hand today, on your way to Zermatt. Change trains in Visp and have your cameras ready for the wonderful scenery as the train snakes its way through the mountains to Zermatt. Here make use of the handy ‘hotel phone’ at the station to call for the hotel to send their electric minibus for you.

DAY 3: GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP

Ride the Gornergrat Railway through pine forests to stunning views of the Matterhorn. This 33-minute journey offers panoramic alpine scenery and glacier vistas. Your ticket allows hop-on, hop-off access— perfect for explore the areas around each stop or taking a scenic hike to enjoy a drink at Riffelalp with Matterhorn views. DAY 4: MATTERHORN GLACIER PARADISE DAY TRIP

Walk or take the bus to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise station and ride the 8-seater gondola to Trockener Steg. From there, ascend 1,000m in Europe’s highest cable car to the “Little Matterhorn” for stunning Alpine views. Enjoy lunch at Europe’s highest restaurant before descending in style with champagne and leather seats in the VIP gondola back to Zermatt.

DAY 5: ZERMATT TO INTERLAKEN

Take the train back to Visp, then onto Interlaken in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. Once checked in for your two-night stay then perhaps a short cruise on Lake Thun or Brienz? In the early evening stroll to the Harder Kulm funicular for the short ride up the mountain side and take in the amazing views across the valley of the Swiss Skyline – The Mönch, The Eiger, and The Jungfrau mountains. The restaurant up here serves some great Swiss specialities for dinner.

DAY 6: JUNGFRAU DAY TRIP

After breakfast, head to Interlaken Ost for a journey to the Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest station. Travel via Lauterbrunnen, Kleine Scheidegg, and Eigergletscher, enjoying views of waterfalls, alpine valleys, and the engineering marvel through the Eiger. At the summit, take in the Aletsch Glacier, visit the ice palace, and have lunch. Return via the Eiger Express cable car to Grindelwald, then train back to Interlaken.

DAY 7: INTERLAKEN TO LUCERNE AND MOUNT PILATUS

Start your day with an optional 15-minute tandem paragliding flight over Interlaken—open to ages 5 to 95 for an unforgettable experience. Then travel from Interlaken to Lucerne on one of Switzerland’s most scenic routes. From Lucerne, cruise to Alpnachstad and ride the world’s steepest cogwheel train to Mount Pilatus, where you’ll stay overnight at the historic Pilatus Kulm Hotel. After the trains and cable cars stop, enjoy a peaceful mountaintop evening, a three-course dinner, and spectacular stargazing.

DAY 8: MOUNT PILATUS AND LUCERNE

Spend the morning at your own leisure today, whether it’s exploring any of Mount Pilatus’ many hiking paths or simply soaking up the wonderful views, but when ready to make your way down the mount via gondola and cable car, then a short bus ride from Kriens to the main station and a short stroll to your hotel for a two-night stay. The rest of the day is again yours to explore at your own pace. The ancient city walls of Lucerne are certainly worth exploring, whilst the Lion Monument is an impressive spot. The unmissable Chapel Bridge is the heart of the city.

DAY 9: STOOSBAHN DAY TRIP

Today, take a train to Schwyz and a short bus ride to the Stoosbahn, the world’s steepest funicular. Ride the unique barrel-shaped cars to the village of Stoos, then take a chairlift to Fronalpstock for breathtaking lake and mountain views. Active travelers can hike the 5km ridge to Klingenstock before returning by chairlift. On the way back to Lucerne, consider stopping in Schwyz to visit the Swiss National Museum and the Museum of the Swiss Charters of Confederation.

DAY 10: YOUR JOURNEY ENDS IN ZURICH

DAY 1: WELCOME TO SWITZERLAND

On arrival at Zurich airport take the short train journey to Zurich main station and make your way to your hotel. In the evening enjoy Zurich old town and the lakeside.

DAY 2: GRINDELWALD

At a time of your choosing, take train to Bern where a change of trains is needed onto Interlaken, then Grindelwald. You can travel at any time of your choosing and spending a few hours exploring the Swiss capital city Bern is highly recommended. Check in to your hotel on arrival in Grindelwald, then take some time to explore this beautiful Swiss village in the shadows of the Eiger.

DAY 3: JUNGFRAU DAY TRIP

Today, ride to the highest railway station in Europe atop the Jungfrau. Change trains at Kleine Scheidegg, then ascend to 3,454m on the Jungfrau Railway. On clear days, enjoy views stretching to France and Germany, plus the vast Aletsch Glacier. Explore the summit before returning via the same route or through Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken.

DAY 4: THE GOLDENPASS TO MONTREUX

Head down the mountain this morning and from Interlaken to Zweisimmen where you board the classic GoldenPass train to Montreux. Enjoy a lunch onboard the evocative Belle Epoque carriages of local meats and cheese before arriving into the capital of the Swiss Riviera. Montreux enjoys a warm micro climate which has historically made it home to the jet-set and has a rich musical heritage evident everywhere. In the evening perhaps enjoy a flutter in the infamous casino, or dinner and dancing in the Montreux Jazz café.

DAY 5: ZERMATT

When you are ready to leave, make use of your Swiss Pass travelling to Zermatt via Visp. On arrival check into your hotel for a two-night stay.

DAY 6: GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP

Today take the historic Gornergrat Cog Railway for the best views of the imposing Matterhorn Mountain and surrounding peaks. Enjoy any of the easy walking paths through the nature reserve or some lunch, prior to returning down to Zermatt for the evening where you can enjoy the numerous small bars and restaurants on the car free roads of this beautiful village.

DAY 7: THE GLACIER EXPRESS

DAY 8: THE BERNINA EXPRESS

Onboard you’ll pass glaciers, the Bernina Pass, and travel along Lago Bianco down toward Poschiavo. In Tirano, Italy, you’ll board the Bernina Express Bus and traverse through Valtellina to Lugano. DAY 9: LUGANO

Today, take advantage of your Swiss Pass and enjoy a cruise on gorgeous Lake Lugano (also called Lake Ceresio) in the afternoon sunshine.
