WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU REQUIRE AT THE TIME OF BOOKING?

All passenger first and last names, and all dates of birth, are required at the time of booking. Certain train providers will require passport information.

CAN I CUSTOMISE MY TRIP?

Absolutely. We can add hotel nights to give you extra time to explore your destination, or add in additional destinations to help you discover new ones! We can also add transfers for ultimate ease and convenience and have an extensive range of sightseeing options so you can make the most of your trip. Just speak with our Rail Experts and we’ll start creating the perfect rail holiday for you.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND THE MOST SCENIC ROUTE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION?

We’re always advocates of taking the scenic route! With so much to see from the train windows on all our rail holidays, you’re in for a treat. If there’s a different route you could take for some extra special scenery, we’ll be excited to let you know!

CAN I TAKE A RAIL HOLIDAY THAT YOU OFFER IN REVERSE?

Yes! We can offer a reverse option on any of our itineraries. If you are already planned to be in one destination and would like to visit cities on one of our packages in a different order or start/finish in a different location, please call us and speak with a Rail Expert.

CAN I UPGRADE TO FIRST-CLASS RAIL ON SOME OR EVEN ALL OF MY TRAIN JOURNEYS?

You certainly can. We know that many of our customers like to upgrade some or all of their train journeys to first-class. Upgrading will give you a larger seat, more legroom and even a meal and drinks on certain routes. To find out more, please speak with one of our Rail Experts who will tell you the advantages of first class on your specific route.

WHERE ARE YOUR HOTELS LOCATED?

Our hotels are centrally located within each city we offer. Most are within a short distance of local sights and/or your railway stations.

HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

In general, each passenger can take two items of luggage plus one personal item. There are no weight restrictions - just remember you’ll need to carry everything!

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS?

After we receive full payment, travel documents will be sent to you approximately 21 days prior to your departure.

CAN I ADD ON ADDITIONAL SIGHTSEEING OR ADDITIONAL HOTEL NIGHTS?

Yes, you can add additional sightseeing activities and/or hotel nights to most existing rail holiday packages we offer. When you speak with a Rail Expert, request an explanation of the upgrade options to your holiday package as you wish. Additional charges may apply.

AM I ABLE TO TRAVEL ON MY CHOICE OF DATES?

There are no set departure dates with our holidays, with the exception of private train journeys such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Most trains will run every day, which means our holidays do too!

CAN I CHOOSE MY TRAIN TIMES?

Our packages don’t have set departure times, and if there is a train running when there are multiple trains a day, your Rail Expert will be able to talk you through the different departures. If there’s a particularly convenient time or a departure that will ensure you catch the best scenery, we’ll be sure to recommend it.

HOW LONG BEFORE THE TRAIN DEPARTS SHOULD I BE AT THE STATION?

With the exception of Eurostar, which has a 45-minute check-in time, there is no official checkin required for train journeys in Europe or North America. Of course, we always recommend arriving at the station in plenty of time.

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN MUNICH

Welcome to Munich! Head from the airport and check in to your hotel for a two-night stay. Perhaps take this opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of one of Munich’s famous beer halls and sample Weisswürste – the Bavarian white sausage delicacy!

DAY 2: MUNICH

Today you will enjoy a fully guided tour to Neuschwanstein Castle. This fairytale castle is said to be Germany’s most famous sight and your expert guide will ensure you get the very best views. As well as a tour of the castle you will also get to enjoy the stunning Bavarian landscape and panorama of mountains. Back in Munich that evening maybe try some more beer sampling at the world’s most famous tavern - The Hofbräuhaus am Platz.

DAY 3: MUNICH TO PRAGUE

Check out of your hotel this morning and Catch a direct train to Prague, where you'll check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Prague is known as the ‘City of a Hundred Spires' because of the steepleflecked skyline that enchants visitors. Explore your own sightseeing itinerary with a hop-on, hop-off bus tour, stopping in the Jewish Quarter and at Prague Castle, among other gems. You'll also be treated to a relaxing cruise down the Vltava River, the perfect way to see the city from a new vantage point.

DAY 4: PRAGUE

Get acquainted with the history of the Prague with today’s private city tour. Walk along Cernin palace and Loreto, through New World to Hradcany square with palaces of aristocratic families, Prague Castle courtyards and St. Vitus Cathedral. The tour will take you down to the Lesser Town full of palaces, churches, and gardens as well as the Old Town Square a world famous astronomical clock.

DAY 5: PRAGUE TO VIENNA

Enjoy the comfort of a highspeed RailJet train from Prague to Vienna. After arrival into the modern Vienna station, check in to your hotel for a 2-night stay. DAY 6: VIENNA

DAY 7: VIENNA TO BUDAPEST

Check out of your hotel this morning and ride the rails to Budapest. The Hungarian capital is truly growing in popularity and is one of Europe's finest capital cities. Then Experience the romance of the Danube River by night with this candlelight dinner cruise. You'll cruise past the city's many beautiful illuminated sites as you dine on a four-course dinner, passing by the Chain Bridge, the Elisabeth Bridge and the Budapest Parliament along the way. Local musicians will also be on board to add zest to the experience by performing live Hungarian music.

DAY 8: BUDAPEST

Explore the “City of Spas” at your leisure. Why not spend a relaxing day at the Szechenyi Baths, 15 indoor and three outdoor pools are kept at a constant warm temperature to enjoy year-round. Take in the views from the Szechenyi Chain Bridge or why not explore Budapest's fascinating underground caves or perhaps take the Funicular up to the top of Castle Hill for fantastic views of the River Danube and the city. After a busy day sightseeing, treat yourself to a local beer and some fine food in the Old Town.

DAY 9: END OF TOUR

DAY 4: AUGSBURG

Check out of your hotel this morning and catch a direct train to Augsburg, where you will check in at your hotel for a one-night stay. Here you will be met by your guide who will take you on a private tour of one of the oldest towns in Germany. The city centre is full of impressive medieval guild houses, and you tour will take in key visits to the 11th century cathedral, Golden Hall and The Fuggerhauser – the historic seat of a wealthy banking dynasty.

DAY 5: WURZBURG

Enjoy the scenery through the Bavarian countryside on the train to Wurzburg, and once checked in get out to explore the city. Visit the Residenz Palace where you will be amazed by its opulent rooms and breath-taking frescos, then relax in the picturesque Altstadt and be sure to sample some of the local Franconia wine.

DAY 6: ROTHENBURG OB DER TAUBER

Make your way to the station for the short train journey to Rothenburg ob der Tauber this morning. This fairy-tale town has captured the hearts and imagination of many for years and is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the world. The chocolate box style cobbled lanes and half-timbered houses often feel unreal, but your private guide can provide you with all the secrets and stories of the town. Take the train back to Wurzburg for dinner.

DAY 7: NUREMBERG

Following breakfast at your hotel head to the station for your train to Nuremberg and a 2-night stay. Nuremberg’s old town is a picture postcard Altstadt, with cobbled streets and medieval buildings. It is still surrounded by 5km of ancient and in parts impressive city walls, one corner is dominated by Nuremberg castle – one of the most important residences of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire.

DAY 8: NUREMBERG

Today embark on city tour to learn in detail the history of Nuremberg, from the days of the Holy Roman Empire to the German Renaissance, Third Reich, Nazi rallies, and Nuremberg Trails. You will also visit the home of the influential German painter, Albrecht Durer. In the evening toast the final night of your trip with a glass of the local beer perhaps in one of the city’s many beergardens and be sure to try its most famous dish – Nuremberg sausages with Sauerkraut.

DAY 9: YOUR JOURNEY ENDS IN MUNICH

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN BRUGES

Welcome to beautiful Bruges. Take the train from Brussels and upon arrival, make your way to your hotel and check in for a three-night stay. Once settled in your hotel, why not take a stroll around the town, and go in search of the city's finest chocolate shops offering mouth-watering Belgian chocolates!

DAY 2: BRUGES

Bruges is a medieval masterpiece of a city, full of pretty canals and cobbled streets. Learn the stories of Bruges’ rich history on an informative city tour. The UNESCO World Heritage listed city center is easy to explore on foot, though you can also take a tour by canal boat or do as the locals do and get around by bike! During your stay, don't miss a visit to the Historium, a new attraction offering visitors the chance to travel back in time and experience Bruges in the Middle Ages.

DAY 3: BRUGES

After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy another day discovering the delights of Bruges. Stroll through historic market squares bursting with traditional gabled guild houses with the aroma of delicious Belgian waffles filling the air. Indulge in traditional Flemish cuisine al fresco at a pavement café, and if you’re feel adventurous, take in the panoramic views over the rooftops from 83-metres high at the Belfry Tower. Bruges is most definitely a walking city, but for a more romantic alternative, horsedrawn carriage rides are available in the historic Markt Square.

DAY 4: BRUGES TO GHENT

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel before boarding a train for the short journey over to Ghent. On arrival, check in at your hotel for a three-night stay. Why not spend the afternoon enjoying a bit of retail therapy, heading to the Kouter area for an array of boutique shops.

DAY 5: GHENT

Ghent is lesser known but indeed larger than Bruges and is a charming university city. Medieval cobbled streets and the picturesque River Lei are the centre piece. There is also an imposing castle, the Gravensteen, in the heart of the city, and you can climb up onto the ramparts for fabulous 360-degree views of the city. Get a unique view of the city on a scenic boat ride, then wander the city's small streets and back alleys around Zwartezustersstraat for some of the best dining in Belgium. And the bars and cafés around the Vrijdagmarkt are great for people watching.

DAY 6: GHENT

After breakfast today, head out for another day of sightseeing. Take time to enjoy the grand gothic architecture or enjoy a boat tour along the winding canals. Spend your evening indulging in traditional Flemish cuisine and local Belgian beer.

DAY 7: DEPART GHENT

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN PARIS

Welcome to Paris! Let us know if you would like a private car to collect you on arrival and bring you to your hotel, but once checked in for your two-night stay head out to enjoy the sights and romance of this timeless city. The famous cobbled streets of Montmartre area wonderful area to explore in the evening, with a fine selection of small restaurants and brasseries, and from up here the views across the city can be spectacular!

DAY 2: PARIS

Enjoy a full day sightseeing today, thanks to your easy-to-use sightseeing pass. Climb to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower then enjoy a scenic river cruise. Prebook a time slot for queue free access to the Louvre Museum then perhaps wander through the famous covered passages of the 2nd arrondissement or explore the wonderful Marais district. Paris really does have something for everyone.

DAY 3: PARIS TO STRASBOURG

Have breakfast at your hotel then enjoy the morning in Paris, before making your way to Gare d’Lest for the highspeed train to Strasbourg. Enjoy watching the French countryside speed by, and on arrival make your way to your hotel for a 3-night stay.

DAY 4: STRASBOURG

Spend the day exploring Strasbourg at your own pace today. A stroll around the Petite France is a joy, and why not take to the water for a scenic boat ride on which you can learn some of the rich history of this city in comfort. The huge Cathedral is one of Europe’s finest and is blessed with some beautiful stained glass. In the summer the Cathedral is blessed every evening by a spectacular light show which cant be missed!

DAY 5: COLMAR DAY TRIP

Make your way to the station for the 20min train ride to Colmar. Smaller in size to Strasbourg the city is blessed by some of the most pictureperfect sights in all of Europe. Little Venice and ‘Le quai de la Poissonnerie’ are both fairy-tale like quarters of the city, blessed with narrow streets and magnificent colourful timber-buildings, unchanged for centuries. When ready to return, head back to the station for your return journey to Strasbourg.

DAY 6: STRASBOURG TO BASEL

Following breakfast, hop on the train to Basel, and check-in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Once settled take a stroll down the banks of the Rhine River where during the summer you’ll find locals enjoying a swim in the clear and often chilly water!

DAY 7: BASEL

A fascinating city set on the border of France, Germany and Switzerland, Basel is full of rich history and some fascinating museums. In the morning you will be met by your own private guide who will give you a great 2hr introduction into the city, then the afternoon is yours to enjoy independently. Basel’s fine art museum has one of the best collections in Switzerland, whilst the city’s impressive minster is home of medieval Europe’s most famous thinkers, Erasmus.

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN ZURICH

Welcome to Zurich! Zurich is Switzerland's most cosmopolitan and elegant city, situated on the banks of the river Limmat. Spend the evening by the lake in the old town district of Niederdorf, famous for its bars, restaurants, lounges, and fashion shops.

DAY 2: ZURICH

Following breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of Zurich with an expert guide to introduce you to the city and the old town. Explore the city by bus to get an overview of the various districts. Embark on a guided walking tour of the Old Town and discover the city and its beautiful surroundings from the water during an audio-guided boat trip on Lake Zurich. The rest of the evening is yours at leisure.

DAY 3: ZURICH TO SALZBURG

On arrival in Salzburg, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Salzburg is your first taste of Austria, the mountains…The Sound of Music! Try the restaurants on the right side of the river around Linzergasse for a real taste of Salzburg. Today, you will explore one of Austria’s true gems on a half-day guided tour from Salzburg to the picturesque village of Hallstatt. DAY 5: SALZBURG TO VIENNA

DAY 10: BERLIN

DAY 11: BERLIN TO AMSTERDAM

Next up is Amsterdam! Relax in comfort on a direct service to the Dutch-favourite. Upon your arrival, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay and spend the rest of the day exploring Amsterdam at your leisure. Hiring a bike is a fantastic way to get around Amsterdam. There are dedicated bike paths throughout the city, or why not speak to us about booking a cycling city tour? And with over ten thousand unique stores, markets and boutiques, there are plenty of opportunities to get your fill of shopping during your stay.

DAY 12: AMSTERDAM

On your second day in the city, enjoy breakfast and then spend your time seeing all the sights you did not get a chance to experience yesterday. Just outside the city, there’s the Zaanse Schaans museum, flower fields and famous flower market. You can picnic in the Vondelpark with its many sculptures (including one by Picasso), shop at Magna Plaza, take a peaceful walk through Amsterdamse Bos (a forest with lakes, meadows, and cafes), or a catch a film at the art deco Pathé Tuschinskitheater in Southern Canal Ring.

DAY 13: AMSTERDAM TO PARIS

Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel and then make your way to the station for your service to Paris. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in for a three-night stay. There is an abundance of exciting visitor attractions to explore in this exuberant capital city. Maybe spend the afternoon strolling the banks of the river Seine and then treat yourself to a delicious Steak Frites dinner before retiring to the hotel for a good night's rest.

DAY 14: PARIS

Today enjoy the absolute best Paris has to offer with a skip-the-line tour to the very top of the Eiffel Tower, and a scenic seine cruise. DAY 15: PARIS TO LONDON

Hop across the channel this morning to the capital of the UK! Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Why not head out into town and enjoy a meal in one of the city's incredible restaurants, offering a wide range of international cuisine in every corner of the city. Use your two-day pass to explore some attractions on your bucket list in the afternoon.

DAY 16: LONDON

Today, continue using your included London Pass, giving you access to more than 60 attractions such as Kensington Palace and London Zoo. Skip-theline access is also included for Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. A Hop-on Hop-off bus ticket is also included plus shopping and dining discounts. For an alternative view of the city why not cruise down the River Thames on a Bateaux London boat and see the sights from the water. DAY 1: ARRIVE IN BRUSSELS

Welcome to Brussels! Upon arrival, check in at the Hotel NH Brussels City Centre for a two night stay. Enjoy two days at leisure exploring this cosmopolitan bilingual capital. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in the narrow roads off the square as well as the Galeries Royales SaintHubert, one of Europe's oldest shopping arcades.

DAY 2: BRUSSELS

After breakfast, perhaps visit some of the exhibitions in one of the spheres of the Atomium; Brussels' answer to the Eiffel Tower, or stroll through the Petit Sablon, a small green square that is home to an array of shops and fantastic patisseries.

DAY 3: BRUSSELS TO LUXEMBOURG

After breakfast, make your way to the train station and travel from Brussels to Luxembourg. Upon arrival, check in at the City Hotel for a two night stay. Spend the afternoon wandering the streets of the Old Town and perhaps enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

DAY 4: LUXEMBOURG

Why not visit the 17th century Notre-Dame Cathedral or enjoy a drink at a cafe around the Place d'Armes square and soak up the atmosphere.

DAY 5: LUXEMBOURG TO COLOGNE

Enjoy breakfast in the hotel and then travel from Luxembourg to Cologne. The journey takes you through the scenic Moselle Valley with amazing views of the mountains and the Moselle river from the comfort of your seat! On arrival in Cologne, check in at the Flandrischer Hof Hotel for a two night stay.

DAY 6: COLOGNE

DAY 5: PRAGUE TO VIENNA

Following breakfast, make your way to Prague station and catch a direct train to Vienna. Upon arrival, check-in for a two-night stay. Relax and indulge in the city's famed café culture, or tuck into a slice of Sacher torte, the city's famous chocolate cake.

DAY 6: VIENNA

After breakfast this morning, enjoy a private half day tour of the city with your own personal guide. Visit the famous Schönbrunn Palace, also known as the Versailles of Austria and is one of the most visited sights in Vienna. The former summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family is one of the most beautiful baroque palace complexes in Europe.

DAY 7: VIENNA TO BUDAPEST

Depart Vienna after breakfast this morning, catching a direct, high-speed train through to Budapest. On arrival in the Hungarian capital, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Budapest is growing in popularity and strolling along the banks of the sparkling Danube past extravagant, historic architecture it is not hard to see why. Bisected by the Danube into Buda and Pest, be sure to cross the connecting 19th-century Chain Bridge in the evening to see both sides wonderfully illuminated at dusk.

DAY 8: BUDAPEST

Spend the entire day exploring everything that Budapest has to offer. The city enjoys a unique geography atop thermal hot springs, which has resulted in a rich selection of baths across the city. The largest and grandest, of these are the sunny yellow Széchenyi Medicinal Baths, complete with both indoor and outdoor pools or tranquil water to relax in. Explore the famous Hungarian Parliament Building, the largest of its kind in the world with your included city tour!

Late morning, you will be transferred to Nyugati station to enjoy a drinks reception in the impressive Royal Waiting Room before boarding the Golden Eagle Danube Express. A private brass band will perform as the train departs from the station, and our uniformed train staff will be there to escort you to your private en-suite cabin. In the afternoon explore all Vienna has to offer, with a panoramic tour of the breath-taking grand boulevard encircling Vienna’s historic quarters. Opened to the public in 1891, the main part of the museum’s collection is made up of artworks acquired by the Habsburg dynasty. Today, continue to Salzburg and disembark to explore the heart of the beautiful city. First stop is the famous UNESCO world heritage 17th century palace; Mirabell Palace. A short distance from the palace on Market Square (Marketplatz) lies the former Mozart Residence, now a museum. From here we will cross the Makartsteg bridge into the Old Town and walk along the Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s most famous street. Spend the rest of the day at your own leisure at Salzburg’s famous Christmas market. Its unique location in the middle of the World Heritage Old Town of Salzburg, the traditional stalls and its long history make the Salzburg Christmas market something incredibly special.

DAY 6: MUNICH

Following a leisurely breakfast onboard the private train, you will make a visit to the Dom Quartier, a

unique cultural highlight in the heart of Salzburg. The terrace above the Cathedral Arches reveals stunning views of the Salzburg historic district as well as the mountains surrounding the city. Head back to the train for lunch and enjoy the spectacular Bavarian scenery as you head across the border into Germany for a two-night stop in Munich.

DAY 7: MUNICH

Enveloped in the ineffable aura of festive joy, Christmas in Munich becomes truly enchanting. Among the city's renowned Christmas markets, the one situated on Marienplatz in the city center stands out.
