Vascular Care After General Surgery Post-Operation Advice You might be given sedation during your procedure. Please follow the recommended advice during the next 24 hours: •
Do not drive or operate heavy machinery.

Do not consume any alcoholic beverages.
•
Do not make any important decisions.
•
Please keep your dressing clean and dry.
•
Take your medication as prescribed.
•
Do not remove the dressing unless instructed by your doctor.
Points to note: 1. No blood taking on the left/ right arm 2. No IV cannulation on the left/ right arm 3. No bending of the left/right elbow 4. No wearing of tight-fitting clothes and jewellery that may constrict the blood flow of the left/right arm 5. Avoid carrying heavy things like luggage, groceries, bags and etc 6. Check your pulse daily morning and night 7. When sleeping or sitting, make certain that your head pillow does not rest on your fistula 8. Do hand exercises
