SITE ANALYSIS
Oslo's oldest botanical garden is located in the densely populated area of Toyen, which is surrounded by many schools and now contains around 7,500 species of plants that are important for educational purpose.
PROBLEMS & NEEDS ANALYSIS
CURRENT SITUATION
The boring, monotonous nature of the botanical gardens and the overly distinctive seasonal patterns do not allow the gardens to provide year-round, fun, plant-based activities for the children of the surrounding schools.
NEEDS OF PEOPLE
The plants are isolated by cages. I can't see them clearly...
FAR ISOLATED
We are so far away from the plants...
BORING COLOURLESS
The same presentation boards are everywhere. It’s so boring.
CLOSED
It's all white here in winter, the colours are so scarce. Why does it close so early? It’s just 5pm!
