Hayashi Department Store Model
In , Hayashi Department Store reopened. Visiting the th-floor café, my grandmother fondly recalled dining on the roof with her great-grandfather. To us, this "five-story house" is more than a landmark; it is a bridge between our generations. In middle school, I vowed to recreate this piece of my childhood. After class, I would visit, measure, and photograph every detail. Using cardboard and bamboo, I rebuilt the Showa-era stories Grandma once told.
In , the store discovered my model and invited me to exhibit it for their grand reopening. Seeing it on display felt like a long-buried seed finally breaking through the soil. Architecture is more than space; it is a vessel for history and emotion. This path—connecting past and present—is exactly where I belong.
