THE HIDDEN TRAIL
PARC RELAIS PROJECT
LOCATION: Bourj Hammoud, Beirut, Lebanon
“The old railway passing through Bourj Hammoud used to create a connection between Beirut and Tripoli. When the train used to pass by, it created an important urban moment, an element of surprise. Although the railway itself is a space just for mobility, back then, it made the area a place due to the memory and experience. Now the memory became history and lost its sense of place. With the proposal of a new train connecting Beirut and Tripoli by a different route; revitalizing the past and linking it back to the future through a Parc Relais program, while preserving the identity of Bourj Hammoud through the different project functions, will bring back the sense of place to the Hidden Trail and increase people’s engagement in the area.”

Torino Stratosferica Transforms Abandoned Tramway into Vibrant Urban Park
To make use of the dead area and give residents an extra space outdoors following Italy's severe pandemic repercussions, the tree-lined strip was transformed into Precollinear Park, a temporary public space fit for socially-distanced leisure. More than 700 residents from all over Turin participated in the process of the project's development, sharing ideas and comments during organized meetings.
