Artist Profiles Stephanie Tubiolo (Director) Stephanie Tubiolo just received her Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, where she studied with Marguerite Brooks, Jeffrey Douma, and David Hill. She served as a co-director of the University Church Choir at Battell Chapel, and an assistant conductor and manager of the Yale Camerata. Also a trained soprano with extensive choral experience, she sang with the Yale Schola Cantorum, a professional ensemble specializing in early and contemporary choral literature, among other professional choirs. As a teaching artist with the Yale Music in Schools Initiative, she developed a keen interest in working with young musicians, and currently conducts the All-City Honors Chorus and the Morse Chorale, which both comprise New Haven Public School students. This coming year, she will serve as Yale’s first Postgraduate Teaching Artist Fellow and continue to develop the Music in Schools choral programs. Stephanie earned her B.A. in Music at Yale College, where she served as assistant conductor and manager of the Yale Glee Club, and graduated with Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude distinctions. Known for a visceral “passion for percussion” (Big Rapids Pioneer) Kramer Milan (Musical Director) captivates audiences through acts of striking and hammering. Endeavoring to reach the masses with his percussive ingenuity, Kramer is an advocate for both the music of our time and of the cherished classical tradition. Last season, Kramer’s engagements exemplified versatility. From his Carnegie Hall debut with the Yale Percussion Group to performances with the New Haven Symphony and the U.S. Coast Guard Band, Kramer takes advantage of the diverse opportunities associated with his craft. Understanding the power of community, he has joined forces with Yale’s Morse Summer Music Academy as a teaching artist, sharing his passion with the next generation of aspiring percussionists. Earning his M.M. at the Yale University School of Music, Kramer studies with the world-renowned chamber musician Robert van Sice. Previous studies include receiving his B.M. from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under Robert van Sice, Tom Freer, Gwendoyln Dease, and David Skidmore. As native of Big Rapids, Michigan, he previously studied with Bill Vits of the Grand Rapids Symphony. Endorsed as a young artist, Kramer performs exclusively with Vic Firth mallets and sticks. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking and cycling in the great outdoors.
Artist Profiles Romario Cerrato (Charlie Brown) will be a senior at CoOp High School in the fall. He was part of the ensemble in the All-School Musical Pippin in April 2016. He also sings bass and tenor in his school choir and he participated in the CMEA Southern Regionals Choir in January 2016. He would like to thank his choir teacher Miss Harriet Alfred for bringing his courage up in the field of music, as well as his mother for being inspirational all these years. Mackenzie Norekis (Lucy) is 11 years old and has been in a couple of musicals. She enjoys doing musical theater and sings both alto and soprano. She would like to thank Ms. Tubiolo for all the great years here at Morse. She would also like to thank Julianne for being a great friend and helping her out with lines.
Gabriel Rodríguez (Snoopy) hopes you enjoy his monologues and songs in Charlie Brown. He has been enjoying Morse Academy this year, especially the songs “Suppertime” and “Red Baron.” In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and basketball. He would like to thank his father for supporting this production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. To the audience, he hopes “you will laugh and cry and have fun.”
James Maciel-Andrews (Linus) is a “talented, gifted, and devilishly handsome” 13-year-old boy who plays Linus in Charlie Brown. He plays alto saxophone in his spare time and has been with the All-City Honors Ensemble since he was 9 years old. He requests that you look for him at the final Morse concert.
Artist Profiles MacHenry Charles (Schroeder) has performed with Morse Chorale for the past two years. He played baseball between the ages of 5 and 7; he developed asthma during the finals of his baseball camp when he was 5 years old. MacHenry will be entering the seventh grade at Brennan Rodgers School this fall.
Destiny Dawson (Patty) will be an eighth-grader at Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, where she performs with a dance group. Outside of school, she enjoys singing with the United Girls Choir and All-City Honors Glee Club. She loves taking long walks to the fridge and being taken to the Chinese buffet. Her motto is: “Destiny Dawson slays all day.”
Nicdaniel Charles (Narrator) has been in Morse Chorale for 2 years and has amazed his peers with his bass voice, even at the young age of 12. He will be going into eighth grade at Brennan Rodgers School and has been singing in choirs since the third grade. His singing skills have been improving for only 4 years in New Haven choirs. He loves singing in bass clef and can’t sing treble. In Charlie Brown, you can find him playing the role of the straight-faced guy with a low voice. Deanna Barnes (Ensemble) is famous for her amazing hair and beautiful voice. She enjoys spending time with friends in Morse Chorale. Her colleagues would describe her as “gentle,” “stunning,” and “a true friend.”
Artist Profiles Darnell Charles (Ensemble) is 10 years old. His favorite sports are football and basketball and his favorite color is green. He enjoys art and wants to become a scientist when he grows up. His favorite teaching artist is Miss Rachel. He attends Brennan Rodgers school.
Aliza Danso (Ensemble) will go going into eleventh grade at High School in the Community. This is her second year with Morse Chorale. She enjoys reading non-fiction and her favorite subject is math. She would like to thank her music teacher, Mr. Nate Trier, and her mother for their inspiration and support.
Cecilia Dondorful-Amos (Ensemble) is a 13-year-old soprano who enjoys reading, writing, and photography. She loves spending time with family and friends and does everything she can to help them out. She attends Betsy Ross Arts Magnet School, where she will be going into eighth grade. She is, in her own words, “very weird and outgoing and is attracted to cactuses and plants and names them.� She also finds science and astronomy fascinating. Efrencheli Ducos (Ensemble) is a rising eighth-grader at Mauro-Sheridan School. After school, she participates in a program where she dances, acts, and sings. She also enjoys photography and animals. At Morse, she is complimented for her fabulous hair and positive attitude.
Artist Profiles Alisha Legeon (Ensemble) is 9 years old. She loves to dance. She is thankful for everyone in her life. In her own words, she “knows how to stay focused” and “respects everyone and everything.”
Veronette Legeon (Ensemble) is 12 years old and is going into seventh grade this year. She has performed in several plays, including at the Shubert Theater. Her favorite colors are lavender and mint green, and she loves anything neon. Veronette thanks her Teaching Artists, accompanists and friends for one of “the most...interesting 4 weeks of her life.” She sends a shoutout to her aunt, who introduced her to Morse Summer Academy. Elijah Rious (Ensemble) choreographs, dances, and sings with 3 different choirs. He dances at John Martinez School, where he also enjoys studying math and science. He proudly sings soprano 1, soprano 2, and alto. Elijah considers himself “strong, bold, and kind” (a sentiment his colleagues would agree with!).
Sophia Rivkin (Ensemble) is a 10-year-old soprano who enjoys singing, dancing and drawing. She has loved the arts from a very early age. Sophia goes to Davis St. School to which she will be returning as a fifth-grader in the fall. She would like to thank her amazing, supportive family that is always there for her, as well as Ms. Tubiolo for being such a wonderful teacher.
Artist Profiles Julieanne Wilkin (Ensemble) is a sixth-grade student at Mauro-Sheridan Interdistrict Magnet School. She has previously performed in two Daedream Productions and in a Shakespeare play. Aside from singing, her main focuses are reading, writing, violin, and school studies. In choirs she sings soprano and the occasional alto line. She has survived 11 years living with “3 animals brothers� (having cousins and friends makes up for the fact that she is an only girl). She has a strong passion for Nirvana and Evanescence. Gabriella Xavier (Ensemble) has never been in a musical before and is very excited to be in this one. Gabriella has been singing since she was 11 years old, and she sang with the All-City Honors Children’s Choir last year. Her favorite part to sing in Morse Chorale is soprano 1.
