Cheryl Mensah, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine (medical oncology & hematology) and cares for patients with a broad range of anemias and classical hematologic conditions at Smilow Cancer Hospital in Greenwich.
Dr. Mensah is also the inaugural medical director of the alassemia Program at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center.
Dr. Mensah received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed residency at Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine.
Following a Benign Hematology/Sickle Cell elective, she completed fellowship at Hofstra Northwell School of

Medicine, and joined Yale from the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra where she was an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology and Oncology. She is a national leader in the treatment of red blood cell disorders, especially hemoglobinopathies.
As medical director of the alassemia Program, Dr. Mensah oversees the clinical and strategic development of comprehensive care for patients with thalassemia. She collaborates closely with clinical and nursing leadership, including Dr. Alfred Lee, Chief of the Classical Hematology Program.
