There’s a lot to be excited about and thankful for. This issue marks the new layout, design and all around feel for Xposure Magazine. Since the last issue, I’ve experienced what entrepreneurs call growing pains. I’m always trying to find new ways to deliver content to you in a great way. With the new layout design, I think it’s a great start. I’ve gotten emails asking for more stories on beauty, fashion, travel and the arts. What can we expect from Ms. Paula Campbell, what’s that career or life goal that you have your sights on?
Paula Campbell You’ve been heavy in the game for a few years so If you could impart some wisdom and knowledge to an up and coming artist what would it be? Honestly being an artist means being just that! You lose a lot to get to that one point (Well at least most artist do.) You have to believe when no one does, keep knocking when everyone has shut the door in your face. Hold your head up even when the tears fall down. Believe in yourself but most of all believe in God and know that he’ll bring you through it. It’s damn tuff out here!!! According to a very reliable source (Google lol) I heard you received a big co-sign from some guy named Ne-Yo and had the opportunity to tour with him earlier in your career, how was that experience? Ne-Yo is still the most humble artist I know, not just artist but person. What you see is what you get and he’s a sweet heart to EVERYONE. He never discriminates. Best of all he allows those around him to absorb so you don’t have a choice but to LEARN. It was a life changing experience and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. How do you feel the state of music is now? Any artist that you’re diggin or artist you feel need to have a seat?
The album “Rebellious Romantic” is well on it’s way.... I’m so excited! So keep me in your prayers. I also wrote a book. It’s an Auto-Biography “Relentless Resilience”. I’m currently seeking publishing for that. I’m also trying to get into some acting. After while I’d really like to get into some screen writing but I’ll always do my music... Karl Lagerfeld and Diet Coke have decided to come together for another design partnership. This time, Lagerfeld has designed three new bottles for the brand he credits with helping him become 92 pounds lighter back in 2001. . Lagerfeld exclaimed “As everybody knows, I drink Diet Coke day and nothing else, night and day.� Lagerfeld is said to have his very own Diet Coke butler who provides the beverage for him in a crystal goblet. Diet Coke has a history of collaborating with designers such as Roberto Cavalli, Matthew Williamson and Gianfranco Ferre to name a few. The bottles set for release in June, will be sold individually or you can treat yourself to a boxed set.
After weeks of speculation, John Galliano has been fired from his own label. In what is sure to be a “when keeping it real goes wrong” moment, Galliano slightly intoxicated berated patrons of a restaurant with anti Semitism. The video of him going in and being disrespectful to the patrons went viral and led to his dismissal from Dior. Most recently, Galliano was just removed from his own label as well. Reports of him being in a treatment facility have surfaced, and he is reportedly undergoing treatment. His line will still produce collections in the interim while the board looks for a replacement. It’s hard to tell where he will end up next; it is possible he can rebuild his reputation and name. Will his talent be enough to win back the people he hurt? Only time will tell.
The 1st Annual Singapore Men’s Fashion Week took place recently and was Asia’s first ever fashion event for men’s fashion. The five day event was held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center and is the third fashion event of its kind other than Paris and Milan. There was a mix of lines who showed like Canali and Emmanuel as well as local designers like ATZU, Reckless Ericka, and Elohim by Sabrina Goh.
With a reported launch date of June 1, 2011, this is no regular ceramic timepiece. The Chanel J12 Chromatic is ceramic mixed with diamond powder and titanium to give the watch the look of steel, with the durability of ceramic. The chromatic color has all the light reflecting quality of steel and is being touted as a new primary color. First off, Choke No Joke that’s a very original name, where does it derive from? Choke No Joke was originally my rap artist name. My nick name is Artie and a friend name Vincent Fletcher use to tease me and call me Artichoke and it stuck. As I got older people starting just calling me Choke and I added the No Joke when I started rapping and that’s how Choke No Joke came about. I started using it as my Director name being that I branded the name already. Your documentary series “Last Days of The Roc” has got the internet going nuts, explain the process of putting that all together and the feedback you’ve gotten from it. I just sat around one day and was looking at the footage and saw it was a valuable lesson in it and thought I would share it with the world to give people a sense of what goes on in the real business world and show how best friends can become strangers for the love of money. I’ve gotten great feed back from it. People love it. Damon Dash isn’t liking the attention he’s getting from it cause it showed people how he was and he has matured since then. I guess the experience he had losing everything humbled him.
No I didn’t attend college for film production. I worked on Public Access shows and interned at production companies that’s how I got my hands on experience. I knew this was what I wanted to do for a living when I produced & directed a show with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg at the legendary Tunnel in NYC. Snoop Dogg told me that the show was hot. That boosted my confidence and let me know that I was in the right field. What’s the best advice you would give an individual who is trying to get into the film industry? Take some kind of film classes or internship for a company or person that has great knowledge about the field you choose to pursue. This will help you from wasting a lot of money on equipment and help you avoid a lot of pitfalls in this industry. What other projects past, present & future were you, or are you involved in that we need to be aware of and look out for? Upcoming projects I worked on that will be released soon is Code Blue a feature film produced & directed by myself. (http:// www.themoviecodeblue.com). I was a producer/director for Roc-A-Fella Records video promotions as well as Damon Dash personal videographer. I’ve done well over 10 commercials for several artists on the label as well as EPK’s & documentaries. What is your ultimate goal, where do you wish to see the Choke No Joke brand build to? My ultimate goal is to receive a major award and recognition for all my achievements and hard work. I want the Choke No Joke brand to be in the same position as 40 Acres and a Mule, The Weinstein Company and Lions Gate. A place to create opportunity for talented individuals.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Lady Gaga who released the anthem Born This Way earlier this year. The song has resonated with so many people and has everyone anticipating the album. Not too long ago, Gaga released the artwork for the highly anticipated album to much controversy. With the release of her latest single Judas, she keeps people talking. Born This Way hits stores May 23, 2011.
“I got through that sentence like a subject and a predicate” and with that Lil Wayne kept the momentum going and has fans eagerly anticipating Tha Carter IV. Guest spots are reported to include Rick Ross, Kanye West, and Cory Gunz. The original release date was set for May 16 but has been pushed back until June 21. Looks like it’s going to be a hot summer.
Watch The Throne has been one of the most talked about projects since it was announced Mr. West and Mr. Carter would create an album together. H.A.M was released to a lot of controversy and praise. Reports have surfaced stating Lift Off featuring Bruno Mars and Beyonce will be the lead single of the project. Watch The Throne in stores this Summer.
Beyonce recently released the lead single Run The World (Girls) from her upcoming album amid controversy. Some of her loyal fans expressed their dislike and suggested she release a song that is more like they are used to. A music executive stated Beyonce’s untitled album would be released some time in June which has everyone wondering what we can expect on this project. Album being released later this year.
The long awaited album Detox is slated to be released some time this year. It seems this project has been rumored many times as being ready for release only for it to change. It’s been more that 10 years since Dr. Dre’s last album and although no one really knows why that is the case. Dre released I Need A Doctor earlier this year and is set to release another single Die Hard featuring Eminem in the near future. Confirmed guests on the album are Eminem, Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Akon to name a few.

There’s been a lot of talk about gas prices and the daily increase of prices. “The Gulf is ready to get back to work to help create jobs and lower gasoline prices,” Doc Hastings stated who supports more drilling in order to try to lower prices. But not everyone is Washington is convinced. President Obama and his administration have been heavily criticized for the way they are handling what some feel may become an energy crisis. It’s been reported the oil companies will post their earnings for the quarter and the earnings are expected to infuriate almost everyone. But with all of the speculation, is there hope for a resolution? Depending on who you ask or who offers their opinion, prices may continue to increase. According to AAA gas price right now is around $3.88 which is only a .23 difference from the all time high back in July 2008. As the demand continues to grow, what alternative solutions can Washington come up with to try and keep the prices affordable?
May 1, 2011 marked an end to a 10 year manhunt and the start of a new dialogue about what is next for the war on terrorism. It took less than an hour to find, capture, execute, conduct a full sweep and take the bodies away and witnesses to an undisclosed location. No one in the general public had an idea what President Obama’s announcement would be and after many different reported start times the announcement was made. What took place after the announcement was truly unexpected, spontaneous gatherings all around the nation and surprisingly in front of the White House. They were emotional crowds cheering USA, singing Hey, Hey, Hey, Obama and etc. it was what some called revolutionary. In all the celebrating that was done, it was easy to feel relief even for a moment or day. It was a united country, one we hadn’t seen that unified and patriotic for almost ten years. The following day once the news set in, we were reminded that Bin Laden’s death was not the end all, be all in the war against terrorism. We as a country began to think about what his death really means, and although it was an end to his life; it was the start of more worry and concern. What does his death really mean for the safety of this country now? How do we proceed from here? President Obama did make a statement saying he would not release the photos to prove Bin Laden’s death because he felt it would fan the flames and the reaction could invoke more violence. Many citizens supported the decision while others felt proof was needed. As more details are released about the handling of the event, as well as where we go from here - we have a lot to be concerned about and to be thankful for.
